    Null Numbers...

Ok, can we try and figure this one out?

Null 01 - The Social Network
Null 02 - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Null 03 ~~ Gone Girl (most likely)
Null 04 - Before The Flood
Null 05 ~~ Patriots Day (maybe?)
Null 06 - The Vietnam War
Null 07~~ Or is Patriots Day here? So then back to Null 05...
    Null 08 ~~ Mid90's (maybe?)
Null 09 - Bird Box (Extended)
    Null 10 - Watchmen Vol. 1

Did the single "Juno" not get a Null number? Gone Girl didn't (yet — maybe they're saving it for a reissue down the line).

    My guess:

Null 01 - The Social Network

Null 02 - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Null 03 - Juno/Gone Girl (Gone Girl is not released through Null Corp, so Juno is more likely imo)
Null 04 - Before The Flood
    Null 05 - Patriots Day
Null 06 - The Vietnam War
    Null 07 - John Carpenter's Halloween
    Null 08 - Mid90s
    Null 09 - Bird Box
Null 10 - Watchmen Vol. 1: The Book Of Rorschach

Halloween was on Sacard Bones Records so I'm not sure if that would count either...

I think Halloween has to count because nothing else fits in Null 07. There was no other music released between Vietnam and mid90s; that one track from The Walled-Off Hotel wasn't even officially released, and predates Vietnam's physical release anyway, whereas Halloween got a physical release. They may not have had the ability to throw the Null number on the SBR release, for whatever reason.

I gotta say, the inconsistent releases of these soundtracks really makes this a pain in the ass. At least for HTDA we have that statement from Rob that confirmed A Drowning was Sigil 1. With these, we just have to look at the gaps and guess.

I have the gaps filled in this way for my personal sorting:

    3. Gone Girl
    5. Patriots Day
    7. Halloween
    8. mid90s

Of those, Patriots Day seems like the slam dunk, and the vinyl is still on nin.com, so maybe we'll even get confirmation. Juno could actually be 3, but then that leaves an entire score out of the Null order and that's infuriating, frankly. I wish that mid90s had received at least like a digital mini-booklet or even just one, single JPEG that says "NULL 08" in Comic Sans or some shit.

I know this is the opposite of a big deal but it's just annoying to have to speculate for these.

For me it's just fun to think about. I totally over looked Juno. Now that throws me off. Trent really needs Rob back on the team. He was good about filling us in on missing info.

If Waves is released tomorrow as expected, and as Watchmen vol. 2 starts to get into the hands of people who give a shit about this, it'll be interesting to see how the Null numbers shake out. Will Waves be factored in as Null 12 to Watchmen vol. 2's Null 11? Or will vol. 2 actually be something dumb like Null 10-2, leaving Waves to be Null 11? Or will Watchmen be Null 11, Waves gets nothing but a boring digital release, and we have to wait another three weeks to see what happens with vol. 3?

I'd imagine that this release schedule was set months ago, given that the records had to be pressed way in advance. What would be particularly annoying is if Waves comes in as 13 or something, messing with the chronological order of the numbers.

If I had to guess, Juno wouldn't get a Null number because it's only one song at didn't receive a physical release. And yes, I know that Halloween is only one song (unless you count the original John Carpenter version on side B) and Mid90s didn't get a physical release either, but it's at least an EP.

My guess for the Null numbers:
    01 - The Social Network
02 - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
    03 - Gone Girl
    04 - Before The Flood
    05 - Patriots Day
    06 - The Vietnam War
    07 - John Carpenter's Halloween
    08 - Mid90s
    09 - Bird Box
    10 - Watchmen Vol. 1
    11 - Waves
    12 - Watchmen Vol. 2
    13 - Watchmen Vol. 3
    14 - Soul?

like you said in your post, we have no guarantee that waves is getting anything more than a digital release. trent didn't specify in his comment on IG. but we can hope!

Solved: Watchmen collectively is Null 10. I checked the runout groove of Vol. 2 and it says Null 10-V2.

So much like there was a Further Down the Spiral (US) Halo 10 and then the alternate release of Halo 10v2, I am assuming that we will catalog the abridged version of BirdBox Null 09 and then the full on vinyl Null 09 Ext

Glad for the clarification but now V could mean 3 things in NIN-world nomenclature: vinyl, version, volume

Re: Juno, it was actually released under “The Null Corporation II”.

I wonder if anything else will come under Null II? And why was Juno under Null II?

The hidden credits for the Bird Box vinyl refer to Null Corporation II as well, if I remember correctly. I’ve always wondered about that distinction too, but Nullco II shows up so rarely that I don’t think a pattern can be established.

On another note, I really love that NIN people feel comfortable enough to just drop in on ETS and give us answers to our questions. Thanks Kraw!!

My guess would be legal/licensing red tape. FWIW:

    Juno = Apple / NASA
    On A Roll = RCA
    Bird Box = Netflix

@kraw if you're still here, could you explain why the volume 2 & 3 artwork of watchmen is still not available on retail sites such as amazon?
I'd love to get a hi-res or at least 1500px cover for volumes 2 and 3 as well. If anybody else here got something better than 600px files from genius, please share!

I know this post is old as hell now, but just in case you're still looking, the art we have up on NIN wiki meets your requirements.
