I will start with the positive and there was plenty:

    - the sound was huge and the band sounded very thight. Especially Till is going strong with his voice. Fantastic!
    - they played quite a long set and a good combination of both records. The whole thing flowed nicely.
    - the attention to detail for the video material was stellar. I haven't seen a show where they produced clips soley for the concert in such high quality.
    - the whole thing is very creative, no song looks the same, no light flahses like the other, it's dense and unique
    - my highlights: Blut, Fish on (the fish thowing stuff was a bit lame though), Platz Eins (of course), Steh auf, ich weiß es nicht

But then there's this... The nudity, sex and porn stuff is way too much on the nose and contradictory to who Till is in private. The man ist just too intelligent for me to buy that he actually likes that stuff. This stuff has no filter and at least in my opinion not alot of artistic value. There isn't much to decipher or understand. Yet, the way it (could) all connects is the interesting part.

What struck me yesterday is something way more concerning and some people on Reddit already pointed it out or at least alluded to that. It's Til's current state of mind.

It's not very visible from clips on the internet, but throughout the whole show I wasn't sure if this is indeed Till Lindemann standing in front of me. I got pretty close and could see all of his antics and the picture I had in mind, most of the time was that of a sad clown. And that goes very well with the eye-witness account of that lady backstage that Ryan posted from Reddit and alot of other stories I heard over the years. Till seemed sad, not just the make up, and his energy level was way less than it is with Rammstein. He's not the hulking, larger than life but sometimes goofy persona here. With Lindemann he's batshit crazy and very loose. No "Till-hammer", but mic smashing, hitting himself and saying even less than with Rammstein. He seemed estranged and angry.

My theory after rewatching all videos up until "Till the end" and witnessing the whole live show is that it is indeed a form of criticism. Criticism against consumption, the media and a corrupted form of sexuality present in these times due to the over-offering of sex, nudity and porn. And Till Lindemann, this quiet man from East-Germany, a humble soul born into a brute body, a man who rose to fame but prefers the outdoors and family time, is deconstructing himself by overexploitation. He doesn't care anymore and he goes full on. 110% and so extreme that it's on the brink of being illegal. He seemed pissed, tired and bored and with these shows he gives the audience more than they asked for. More that they can chew and by that, he lets the audience take a look in the mirror. Their neverending demand has pushed him this far. How much more do we want?

Whilst standing there, having laughed at some of the stuff that was going on as well as rolling my eyes, I thought to myself, just for a blink of an eye, if I have truly gotten what Lindemann is about. He actually wants me to hate what's going on. And if I liked what I was seeing, I've become the very thing he actually despises (maybe even within himself). The whole thing left me a little worried about him, if I'm right. Could he be THAT unhappy? Is he so desperate? Usually I'm pretty good in pointing out if somebody's not doing well and not talking about it. In the end it is all a huge marketing scheme, of course it is, but I don't think this is going too well with some people really being concerned. And that should never be the goal of getting attention, whether it's personal or business/media.

OOOOOORRRR maybe all of this is just one obscene media orgy indeed and a big party that I don't necessarily feel comfortable with. Then I will have to agree with @ManBurning that Lindemann is indeed an elaborate midlife crisis induced penis joke. Bloodhoung Gang on speed, if you will. But ultimately that is not the Till Lindemann that I want to be entertained by and that kept me entertained and sometimes even touched me since the late 90s. Note taken: this is just a band, and a guy I don't know personally, but: I just care.

    What about you guys?

So, you've seen Till with both Rammstein and Lindemann now within the last year. Would you say the 2 performances are completely different or did you notice a bit of this "Lindemann" side creeping into the Rammstein side as well? If so... maybe he is just off his rocker now. If not, maybe it's all just part of an alternate persona he's putting on for this "Lindemann" performance. A character an actor plays.

I mean, I hope for Till's sake he not losing is marbles and not going to go full blown "Marilyn Manson" on us and start phoning in his performances or having the "art" side of it devour the music, to the point where the music takes a backseat.

Just sad to see someone go down the road like this. Obviously, none of us know the guy in person, so it's all just speculation at this point. But generally, after you have grown up and watched someone in videos and in interviews and live for 20+ years, you generally get a feel for how they really are as a person. Him and Manson seem to be sharing too many of the same traits these days. I know that both of them are really good friends too. Maybe Manson's nonsense has been rubbing off on Till lately.

To me, all these aging rockstars from the 90s feel like a bunch of teenagers that used to be friends. There is always 1 or 2 people out of a group that never really "grew up". Till and Manson seem to be the ones in this case. Trent was like "fuck this shit. I need to break away from these guys and do my own thing, start a family, disassociate myself with this" Trent got mature, grew up. I think it's all about who you surround yourself with. Maybe Peter tagtgren is the bad influence on Till here? Who knows. Maybe he is just lonley though, he's approaching 60. He's been married a few times and has some children of his own, but maybe his children want nothing to do with him. Maybe they look down at what he's become and don't talk to him anymore so he's lashing out any way he can to try and get attention and feel loved.

Some of it has been creeping in for a long time. He's gotten more and more poofy, feminine if you will with the make-up, the piercings and the feathery-things and jackets. Some of that has always been there, but it's coming to the surface more and more. And yes, I stand by my word: Lindemann is very different to Rammstein. Just look at yourself and many hardocre Rammstein-fans that I've been talking to for the last couple of months. Most couldn't understand my view on the modern Rammstein, but now that we have Lindemann, they start to see what I was ranting about. It's getting more and more artifical and estranged. And for me personally that is why Rammstein and Till are losing impact on me safe for some redeeming qualities.

But yes, I don't know him personally, but I've been following him a long time now, reading the poems, listening to interviews, taking a proper look at the man himself, reading his father's and both of Flake's books and of course talking to alot of people, fans, and aquaintances of his and it still baffles me, what he's becoming. Don't get me wrong though, Till still is an imposing figure and there's probably no rockstar like him on this earth. He's unique in a Bowie, Mercury kind of way. He's just Till Lindemann and no one could copy him. His latest outings have me puzzled though. If Skills and Pills would've been a one-shot or if F&M was played a little more quiet media-wise I would never voice these concerns as I do and just file it under "Well, not my thing. Next!".

I'd say that Till is still doing leaps and bounds better than Manson, but the fight for attention is becoming rather similar these days. Maybe it's indeed the wrong company he's with (look at Johny Depp).

Either way, I will keep a close eye on this and I am still very much looking forward to the next touring cycle and so should you guys in the US and Canada!

LOVED the London show. Didn’t get the globe b-stage, but Till dancing through the crowd was fun.

I went to visit-x.net and it looks like you have to pay to see the uncensored video of Till The End?

Also, this video of Till getting sucked off by two groupies is played at the end of the shows. It was supposedly recorded during a Rammstein show under the stage: https://www.reddit.com/r/Lindemann/c...indemann_show/
Did the tattoo thing end up being real? Did anyone notice any ink?

Interesting that Till wears sunglasses when he's on eye-level. I think I'd like it better without the globe, since Tägtgren is not the best entertainer.

I finally managed to find a mega link for the uncensored video of Till The End. Those blowjob scenes through the On Quiet Nights book was... interesting. I also noticed a few of the scenes were used in the Platz Eins video.

After watching that I’d have to say you’ve hit the nail on the head regarding the concept of it all. But the part I can’t shake is... you know, how do his family members feel knowing footage of him doing that shit is out there, tongue in cheek or not? And the rest of Rammstein?

After I had some time to let it all sink in and after having seen backstage pics of Till, I'm still shocked how he's degrading himself with this stuff. I really can't see the funny part in this anymore. Maybe I'm thinking too much as well. I really don't know where this is going... or supposed to go. BUT the show is stellar indeed and after having seen some more shows at the same venue, I can safely say that the sound engineering for this is perfect!

Moscow Lindemann gig split in two gigs to accommodate 5000 audience limits imposed by city mayor because of virus alertness. Does that sound stupid or what?

Least you're still getting a show.
Almost everything has been cancelled in North America. Our room bans range from no more than 100-250 people per room depending on the province/state.
Almost every tour has gotten cancelled or postponed today.

Edit: just googled the news... didn't realize they were splitting the show in half on the SAME DAY! Now, that's funny... there's a 3pm gig and then another one later haha.
It's like an afternoon matinee with Lindemann!

Another show by the Rammstein-PAIN crossover band Lindemann is also under threat. The performance, scheduled for March 15 in the BTV Arena, would be the fourth in the group’s Russian tour. Lindemann’s managers decided to find a way out of their coronavirus bind by scheduling two back-to-back concerts for 5,000 people each within a single day. The concert organizers noted that anyone attending the first of the two concerts, which is scheduled for 3:00 PM, will receive a free seat category upgrade
    https://meduza.io/en/feature/2020/03...cancel-culture

Still... at least you're still getting a show lol. Could have been flat out cancelled, which would be worse.

It says the first show on March 15 was recorded for a DVD release: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/linde...-2b9930f6.html

With those two shows being back to back on the same day, I really wish they had have slipped in That’s My Heart, G-Spot Michael, Children Of The Sun, Yukon, Schlaf Ein and Wer Weiß Das Schon among both gigs to have every song from both records played. Don’t really care for Mathematik.

I'm getting a bit tired of his antics, yet I'm intrigued what this is all about again. Though what I've read about this "freak-show" in the past, wasn't that humble:

Educated guess but they might have offically said that as well: could it be that the sudden rise of new Lindemann had something to do with this very play? I mean it was quite a surprise that they would return with a german vocals heavy record after "skills in pills", so the play might have sped up things a bit into that direction.

Last night I dreamt I was laying down next to TR and somehow convinced him to let me go backstage with Till, on the condition that I would do whatever he asked or something like that. At one point he did some huge physical stunt and then collapsed in a tour bus, and started sobbing and saying that people don’t think that he feels pain, but he does, so he got me to massage his ass or something. Then I ended up with his saliva on me and it got weird.

At another point he was playing dead and had Paul, me and Schneider worried, then suddenly got up, hit us and started running off. A few seconds later Flake appeared, looking very concerned, and asked if Till is ok. We just looked at him and ran off after Till.

    True story.
