Okay, how did we manage to derail a basic LIST thread?

My list is mostly from the first half of the decade because I've mostly lost track of what's been current for the last few years. Even when some albums are new, I sometimes don't get around to listening to them or only listen to them once or twice then forget about them (though some exceptions do apply).

    No particular order:

    Opeth - Pale Communion (2014)
Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused To Sing (2013) or Hand.Cannot.Erase (2015)
Nine Inch Nails - Hesitation Marks (2013)
David Bowie - The Next Day (2013) or Blackstar (2016) (I actually prefer TND, but Blackstar seems to get more love because it was released just days before he died. They're both his best ones since the early 80s, though.)
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs (2010) or Reflektor (2013) (Everything Now [2017] also has some songs I really like, but also a bunch of filler tracks in the middle.)
Marilyn Manson - The Pale Emperor (2015) (Definitely one of his better post-90s albums)
Enslaved - RIITIIR (2012) (I've mostly lost track of what's current in metal, especially extreme metal, which is probably why the first metal album on the list is the seventh entry).
Agalloch - Marrow Of The Spirit (2010)
Jesu - Everyday I Get Closer To The Light From Which I Came (2013)
    Sunn O))) - Life Metal (2019)

Picking the last album on the list was a bit hard, limiting the list to just ten entries is even harder.

Nine percentwould skip the trip altogether.”
I would want to go back to the late 80s/early 90s over in the UK to experience the second summer of love and the rave scene. The 90s electronic music will always be my favorite era, so much great and unique artists.

    no order....let's see..

1-Final- Infinite Guitar 4 (2013 ..ambient masterpiece, with just a guitar used, though in many cases you wouldn't know that. some long ones on this one, including a nearly hour long track)
2-White Static Demon- The Poisoned Tape (2013 industrial noise masterpiece. wish he released more but it seems the project ended with this album)
3-Council Estate Electronics- Arktika (2016 deeeep heavy low end ambient/techno/dub...though I can interchange this with their album LongMeadow, a freeform beatless noise album from 2013)
4-Oophoi- Time Fragments Vol 1 (2011..my all time favorite ambient artist, we lost him in 2013. so much good material from him this decade, some released after his death)
    5-NIN-Trilogy (2016-2018)
6-The Orb-Chill Out World (2016..mostly or all beatless, a return to the early 91-92 sound in many cases)
7-Primal Scream- Give Out But Don't Give Up (Original Memphis Recordings 2018. a down south rock n soul (a genre I typically don't like) masterpiece, recorded in 93 but scrapped for a more commercial sounding release in 94. RIP Throb )
8-One Dove- Moon Angel/Morning Dove Red (unreleased second album 2017. recorded 93-96. ok, so this was unofficially released on Youtube but it's made my list because One Dove's one and only record is one of my favorites of all time)
9-Brian Eno- Neroli/New Space Music (2014...Neroli is a reissue of a 1993 album while New Space Music is a new song/album, beautiful ambient track)
10-Zonal-Wrecked (2019..this one just came out and it's already on the list. industrial/noisy trip hop dub. not the biggest fan of the MC on half the album but man oh man is the music just flat out sick. Techno Animal's spiritual successor)

seems that Justin Broadrick may have been my favorite musician of the decade then, since his stuff dominates my list. here are some honorable mentions:
    all TR/AR scores
    JK Flesh- New Horizon (2018)
    Prince- Originals (2019)
    Jesu- Ascension (2011)
    Amon Tobin- Long Stories (2019)
    The Bug-Angels & Devils (2014)
    Faith No More-Sol Invicitus (2015)
    Orbital- Monsters Exist (2018)
    Lush- Blind Spot (2016)
Moon Duo- Occult Architecture vol 1&2 (2017) EXCELLENT combination of a band like Suicide mixed with psychedelic guitar work
    Wooden Shijps- V (2018)
    St. Vincent- Masseduction (2017)
    Mark Lanegan- Blues Funeral (2012)
Novella- Change of State (2017) Silver Apples/shoe gaze sound
Enigma- Fall of a Rebel Angel (2017) a masterpiece IMO

If you guys are into Metal, here is a list of the top 66 metal records of the decade.

    https://loudwire.com/best-metal-albu...3IhBE1YXdRlU4A

EDIT: Annnd, today they released the 66 best rock albums of the decade. Gotta admit, this list is tight. Lots of really good records on this list.
However, no NIN at all???? Manson gets 2 records and Not a single NIN record anywhere here. Pretty good list over all aside from the NIN snub. APC, Puscifer, QOTSA, Bowie, Foo Fighters, Deftones...

I tried to link to my favorite live track from each, but it kept putting the videos inline and making the post miserable to navigate.

I dunno if I'd go that far, exactly, but it certainly didn't deserve all the vitriol it got... Chuck Klosterman's review typifies the snarky, self-satisfied style of music "criticism" at that time, which Lou definitely sneered at.

I definitely think Reed fans would dig it more than fans of Metallica.

Autechre, Tim Hecker and OPN could have had several albums on here in my top 10, but to keep it more diverse only one album from each artist.

    Tim Hecker – Ravedeath 1972 (2011)
    Ben Frost – Aurora (2014)
    Autechre – Oversteps (2010)
Oneohtrix Point Never – Replica (2011)
Under The Skin – Mica Levi (2014)
Ex Machina – Geoff Barrow and Ben Sallsbury (2015)
    David Bowie – Blackstar (2016)
    SD Laika – That’s Harakiri (2014)
    Nazoranai – The Most Painfull Time… (2014)
Yves Tumor – Serpent Music (2016)
I liked both Hesitation Marks and the Trilogy too, but not sure their Top 10 of the 10s.
