Does Ring Fit Adventure count as a game? I'm a little annoyed at how game-like the actual adventure mode is. I mean I'm 'running' and pushing and pulling and stretching and then "oh you died because you didn't have the right loadout for this boss". I know, it's a dumb complaint and certainly not worth talking bad about the game but at the same time...really?

I mean for the leg boss you literally made me have all leg exercises so I didn't have a choice and that worked for me because that made sense. But then for the arm boss you leave it up to me? And since you did it for me before I didn't think I'd have to do it myself so here I am at the arm boss with one arm 'attack'.

There are some small critiques that I have, such as "you don't have to watch the screen for this exercise" and then I'm getting "good" instead of "great" because I have bad form. There are some visual cues that tell you you're doing it right vs wrong and if you're not looking, you don't know where the issue actually is. The other critique is that the ring can lose it's knowledge of space easily at times. Usually it knows that I'm holding it in front of me and can track the movements so I can aim but then there are times when suddenly you're shooting the ground and it's a timed event and you have to reset the damned thing and again it's a timed event. That's no bueno. Especially since it's still a game and you want to get the S rank dammit!

The good news is that I broke 200 lbs the other day, down from 217 since December, so the exercise combined with eating right (he says as he's eating a no-bake peanut butter cookie) really helps. Hey, self-control is a lot but when it's literally my favorite cookie I'm going to take the extra sugar and work harder later.

While i did LOVE it (P5 music is great) there didn't feel like there was all that much. 24 songs in total and a handful were just remixes and live versions.

I also tried playing with the speed slowed down because i suck, but when getting the planium i had to put the challenges on and up the speed and realized i really like it fast...

Finally Started Rage 2 (i'm going to clear this backlog if it kills me) and...it's fine. Very much feels like they wanted to make boarderlands meets Doom 2016 and it hits neither. The world and story are just so band and forgettable, and the combat can be fun, but most of the time your just running around looking for ammo in the middle of firefights! Whilst there's a reason it's always under £10/$10 it's probably worth it for that price if your itching for an FPS.

So a couple of you wanted to know about our experience with retro handhelds.

I did a good solid hundred hours of research, and came down to the two best. There is the Retroid Pocket 2, and the Anbernic 351p.

They are both amazing machines, but, they both have their ups and downs.

The retroid pocket 2 is the most powerful. It will play everything up to and including PS1. It will also run DS, and, amazingly, the majority of N64 and Dreamcast games, AND, a whole lot of PSP.

Here's the downside, though: it runs on retro arch, which is a BIG fucking program, that is NOT overly user friendly. To get everything to work right, you'll be spending dozens of hours setting options and button mapping and such, for each emulator. I've been big into emulation for 20 years, and my wife is one of those, just, naturally techy people, and, yeah, it's tried our patience, even with our combined experience.

The Anbernic 351P does everything the Retroid does, except, it doesn't run N64 or PSP or Dreamcast that well, and stutters a little on DS.

BUT, and here's what's badass about it: it ALSO runs retro arch, BUT, it comes with a nice front end. You can scroll through pictures of the systems, and just open the system and play. All the buttons are already mapped and the options are already optimized. Also, it comes with quite a few good games: like 2500. And adding more is as easy as upgrading to a bigger micro SD, plugging into the computer, and then, dragging and dropping.

A word of warning, though: you MIGHT not want to order these from the manufacturer. Keep an eye out on Amazon, where you have protection and return policy.

Here's why I say this: my wife and I both ordered Retroid Pocket 2's direct from China. Hers arrived. Mine didn't. We don't have mailboxes where I live: you get your mail in a box at the post office. I ordered mine with the PO box as the first line. And, their shipping company just straight up doesn't deliver to PO box. There is very little customer service, and they've been "checking on it" since the fucking middle of December- like, I'm communicating with someone in China, via email, about a package stuck in a warehouse in Dallas.

So, THEN, I decided to just order an Anmbernic, since the retroid was so much work, anyway.
They sent it to me, and the fucking right stick doesn't work, which wouldn't be a big deal, except you fucking need it for save states.

Annnnnd, they won't let us exchange it. Instead, they're sending us ANOTHER right stick, and instructions on how to take the fucking thing apart and replace it .

I said "fuck it" and ordered ANOTHER one, from a US seller, because I'm so sick of waiting. I guess I'll eventually wind up with two RG351p's, and ill sell one of them.

The reason I know that they are so badass, though, is that my niece and nephew got them for Xmas, and I'm in Denver, and I've been playing them.

They cost about the same. I also prefer the form factor of the anbernic 351p a LITTLE more than the retroid.

But, aside from that, yeah: if you want the more powerful one, and are down for halfway BUILDING the damn thing on the software side, get the retroid pocket 2. If you just wanna play PlayStation and nes and snes and GB/gbc/gba and MAME and Neo Geo and such, right out of the box, go for the Anbernic RG351p.

And order from somewhere with a return policy, BUT, don't pay more than around $100 for them.

So I randomly put on Gears 5 to play a multiplayer match this morning. Is it just me or is it as worse as ever? I immediately hated the multiplayer in this game the very moment I played the beta. Then it released and launch week I was like okay let's go. I played it roughly 2 months and dropped it like a hot potato. Typically, being as GOW is my fave series, I play the multiplayer as my main go to for online gaming. I played 3, Judgment (yes haha), Ultimate Edition and 4 for years after they released. This....not really. It had too many changes and plays like absolute garbage. The Gnasher doesn't feel like it's coming or going in multiplayer. I hate the changes they did with the button layouts and all of the launch maps felt like COD wannabes. Just egh.

I tried again today, I really did. Complete crap. This game is a travesty. I wish they'd stop catering to casual players and changing everything about these games that made lifelong fans like myself fall in love with them.

Gears Tactics was cheap so I bought it this past week. Gonna give it a go since it looks traditional and fun. I suck at RTS (or RTS lite games like this) so hopefully I'll get my footing.

    Mulitasking a bit now.

Just started FarCry 3 Remaster, dropping into the odd Titanfall 2 MP match (that game is still SOOOO much fun!) and playing the odd Warzone when a friend is available for a few rounds (we're surprisingly good and the rebirth island matches, we've won more matches on that in the last few weeks then Warzone proper since launch, but as the clip below shows it's probably more luck then skill lol)

I thought i'd run out of ammo so switched to the launcher and won the round with it...

25h in myself. totally agree. I spent wayyyyy too much time on sidequests though early on. I'm now going to focus on the main quest and let the sidequests be completed at my leisure.

I would honestly keep doing the side quests and level your characters up as much as possible. I find myself having to tone down the difficulty level now due to being a lower level than the creatures I'm having to face and its kind of annoying....plus the side quests help flush out the storyline a little bit more.

I never played this back when it first came out, and it's good. I'll admit i do not care for the protag or his friends, and some of the side quests are kinda...rubbish, but i'd imagine that's due to the budget and the game being over a decade old. I think i overall prefer FarCry 4, but this one defiantly feels more focused then FC5!

One of my games of the year, such a great all round package! I must have spent a good half dozen hours JUST in photo mode.

Thanks for updating on this and going in deep dive, I was just wondering about a week ago if you got it lol. I can be a bit of a masochist when it comes to customizing shit like the button mapping. But for how you say the Anbernic functions, I have no problem with what it can't do. Hmm.....

At least (by this point) the first time you'll play it, you'll be playing what is absolutely the best version of it.

spent some Microsoft rewards points on Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Earthblood. It's okay. Fairly linear with short missions. Combat is average, dialog is average. If you're looking at it, wait for a sale.

Up to Chapter 17 of Xenoblade Chronicles now so I know I'm getting closer to the end. So far, an absolute masterpiece. Can't believe it's as "old" as it is. Epic. Right up there with FF VII. This is the first time I've really played one game at a time, and not multi-task between others. I may continue this approach with all games now going forward, so as long as I avoid burnout from the game. And if I haven't gotten burnout from this long masterpiece, I doubt I'd get burnout from others..

Debating on what I'm going to play next...do I want another in-depth game, like Breath of the Wild ...or something a bit more "fun" like Luigi's Mansion 3? I'll probably go with BotW, because, let's face it, it's a no brainer. I only got about an hour or two into it when I owned it last year.

    HROT

Quake throwback boomer shooter on Steam, very brown, currently in early access.

HROT is a single-player retro FPS set in a small socialist country neighboring Soviet Union (Czechoslovakia) after an unspecified disaster in 1986. Those times were dark and terrifying and so is the game.

My brother got this thing called a Pandora Box 11.

It's basically like, the two joysticks and two sets of six buttons, laid out in one piece, arcade style, just like the sticks and buttons on a SF2 cabinet. And it's plug and play with about THREE THOUSAND arcade games in it from like 1990 to 02 or so.

I'm talking all kinds of street fighter 2 and 3, samurai showdown, dark stalkers, golden axe, final fight, knights of the round, altered beast, all kinds of neo geo: you name it.

It costs about a hundred dollars. OH. It also has two "insert coin" buttons: one for each player.

I can't recommend this thing enough. Check it out.

Wow, that is insanely cheap. How do the buttons and sticks feel?

I am planning on building my own cabinet when I get a bigger place, so this would be nice to just put in there and attach a monitor to.

Pandoras Box is something I looked at picking up. The build quality is acceptable, and you can swap out the joysticks.

just beat Xenoblade Chronicles!! what an experience...easily one of the best games I've ever played. I don't think I've ever put that many hours into a RPG game (and it's certainly not a lot compared to many many others)

Dude, the stick and buttons are VERY arcade style "clicky."
    It's fucking GREAT.

Apparently, though, it's kind of a crap shoot, buying these things. The original was a shady thing, and, now, there are like 50 knock offs, and some are better, and some are worse.

But, I DO know that the one my brother got, with Ryu on it, that says "Pandora 11s" is fucking amazing.

I'd buy with a return policy, though.

Finally finished Ghost of Tsushima, what an epic game. The story was great, it did get a little repetitive, but I tried to finish most of the side quests. This is another reason why I went PS5 this go-round, Microsoft just doesn't have these epic single player games right now.
