Shia is having quite the year. He was excellent in Peanut Butter Falcon, and again here. Movie is based around his own experiences as a child actor with his abusive but also loving dad overseeing him during this time. Shia also wrote this. Great movie that handles these touchy issues with a very even handed approach. The child actor is great in this too. FKA Twigs has a small part. This is all about Shia though. Really acting his butt off here, chewing the scenery when needed and acting in a more subtle way when needed also. I imagine Shia will be up for some wards for this.

Good movie. All the actors do a great job. Shia really shines and I expect him to take home some awards.
My only criticism is that near the end of the movie it feels like certain scenes repeat them selves thematically and the movie just sort of ends.
Great character study though.
