Killer list, @wampa . I read the first two issues of Poison Ivy on DC Infinite thanks to your recommendation (they're the only 2 up so far) and damn was I hooked. I'll be adding that to my list for sure.

I read The Flash for about a year in 97/98, I'll have to check out the new stuff. How would you describe Batman/Superman World's Finest? I looked at some of the cover artwork and it reminded me of good, old school wholesome material.

Stargirl's intriguing. I don't know much about her, but have heard good thins about the book and the show.

edit: oh, that Lazarus Planet series looks like it's going to be cool!

B/S WF has a definite old school feel to it. Feels like early 80's Batman that still got a little campy, but not too campy, from time to time. He doesn't feel too far removed from carrying shark repellent!

I have been comic crazy, I've purchased, I don't know, maybe 20 single issues of various series the past few weeks. I was disappointed with the end of The Nice House on the Lake. I started a pull list at my local shop. I just got the latest Flash and Lazarus books. Man, I am really loving the Flash again. I'm about 200 pages into the Waid Flash Omni which I got a week or so ago. I also got The Man of Steel hardcover vol 1 by Byrne, about 100 pages in and I am a legit Superman fan now. I will be buying all vols of Byrne's run.
@wampa or anyone who may know: what are some collected volumes of Batman/Detective Comics from the mid 80's-early 90's? I'm inspired by the Byrne Superman books to get into that era of Batman. Any trades, hardcover, or omni suggestions are welcome. I should say, I've read Year One, Long Halloween, Hush, DKR, Killing Joke, and Death in the Family

Probably just a USA thing but still very neat if a local shop isn't around...

Keith Giffen, RIP. One of my favorite writers of all time. Co-creator of Lobo and Rocket Raccoon. His comics were always fun to read.

DC Elseworlds is being rebooted! Including a sequel to the 1989 classic 'Gotham By Gaslight'!

Ordered Marvel 1602 #1-8 (2003 series)... it's been on my mind for a while and with the What If...? episode coming out in a few days I figured may as well.

Well... Todd McFarlane is now coming the local expo at the end of the month... and we already have VIP tickets for the whole event... and since I've put the effort into collecting the vintage stuff, and I'll probably only ever being to this once and he's coming... well, I guess I should choose a cover or two to signed (my beloved is already willing to also do a signing to make that happen).

Sure, he could still back out at the last moment, but this was his home city...

I had actually decided not to go for a McFarlane autograph, sure, VIP access gives me priority queueing but there are other much more passionate fans that could do that. It was a nice thing but not a necessary thing...

However, there was a VIP contest (only open to VIP ticket purchasers) to win an signing on one of the days... that I entered (and so did my beloved partner).

And we both won for the Saturday signings!

I've narrowed down my list to 11 covers...

    The Incredible Hulk - 340
    The Amazing Spider-Man - 312
    The Amazing Spider-Man - 318
    The Amazing Spider-Man - 323
    The Amazing Spider-Man - 324
    The Amazing Spider-Man - 325
    The Amazing Spider-Man - 328
    Spider-Man - 6
Spider-Man - 8 (due to the local aspects of the story and art)
    Spider-Man - 12
    Spider-Man - 16

As you can see, only one "well-known" cover (I'd say the Hulk one) but I'm forgoing the Venom first appearance or ASM 300 or Spider-Man 1 or any of the Spawn stuff... just going for something that I think looks cool.

    Any thoughts?

That's really cool but I don't know anything about his run to have good input. What if you take them all and ask him to sign his favorite?

I did think about that as an option but I figured that's a bit too complicated/annoying to deal with in the setting... "Hey Todd, I couldn't choose a favourite could you pick yours out of this selection?"

Like if it were more private, I'd probably do it but out on the floor in front of waiting and paying fans... nah.

"Spider-Man 12" would look badass signed! (one of my favorites of Todd's run, both the story and art...)

Both "The Incredible Hulk 340 and Spider-Man 16" are more "historic issues" so they could be valued better (if you're planning to resell)

My beloved partner is going for Spider-Man 12... so, good choice!

16, I just like it because it's sideways and looks cool... sure, it's also the end of his run but that's secondary but I see the value in that part.

    Oh I just don't know, I just don't know.

Since you are already going for an Spiderman issue, do the Hulk one then; that way you'll have more variety on signed titles...

    I mean... I already have a Spawn...

We'll see... still have a few days to think it over.

Went for ASM #311... I know, I know, not one I listed but there's a good reason.

I had wanted Spider-Man #8 for it's local tie-in but with my partner choosing #12, I really didn't need two from the same series signed.

Then I remembered in one of the ASMs he give a nod to the late 1980s Western/Cowboy fashion sensibilities of the day... and growing up in Calgary with its Calgary Stampede, I was very familiar with that nod to fashion.

    The signing went very well.

When I told him why I chose it, he laughed and said "Oh wow!".
