I hope this isn't too douchey, but a few days back I wrote a blog post on my site about my personal connection/interpretation of the Pleasure Principle.
Just in case anyone is interested. Linky.

GARY, WHY ARE ALL OF YOUR LIMITED EDITIONS SOOOO EXPENSIVE!? AND WHY DO YOU RELEASE THEM WHEN I HAVE NO MONEY!?

    http://www.townsend-records.co.uk/si...1473&pTypeId=1

EDIT: I was originally going to by Dead Son Rising Deluxe... Then I decided to get the 80-81 (5 LP) set... Then I saw the Machine Music DVD... Now, I am thinking about getting the Big Noise DVD and CD. I know the book/cd set will sell out fast and with currency rates, I don't have enough money to put down on it right now... THIS SUCKS!!

EDIT II: I know he'll release a limited version of Splinter, so I'm thinking about just waiting to see what comes of that album. I don't have much money saved but I know eventually, I'll have one of these limited editions.

Is he miming? Did he mime live? Is the promo vid dubbed over with bits from the CD? All of the above? None? Particularly on "The Fall" on that vid...

As I explained earlier in the thread, he uses backing vocals on tape for some more recent songs with the big shouty choruses, but Numan definitely does *not* mime on stage. His live vocal on these recordings is usually mixed low enough that it blends in with the backing tape to the point where you can't even really hear it. This kind of takes me out of the moment when I'm watching it, but it certainly does sound more powerful.

He uses backing tapes and sings along with them, especially on the 'big' choruses

Again I don't think so, The Fall does sound really good there - but Pure, Dead Sun Rising, I Die: You Die and Everyday I Die in the clip sound different to their studio counterparts.

There is a possibility some parts were retouched after the fact, like AATCHB, but it all sounds pretty fucking cool to me.

Gary Numan Official : "Spent today writing lyrics for yesterday's vocal idea only to realise I'd already thought up that melody about 12 years ago. Arse. GN"

One of the dangers of being an active artist for ~ 35 years I guess...

Exciting news... I'm glad the "Petals" track will be widely released and Splinter seems to be progressing nicely.

    http://www.numan.co.uk/q-a-august-12/ - NEW Q&A

I really want to buy up the Big Noise dvd but something in this article makes me want to try to buy up a new release (slated later this year.) Also... Has anyone received their copies of Big Noise yet?

EDIT: Just got my copy of the standard 2 CD version, Big Noise Transmission. I wish I could have purchased the limited book, that would have been great. If any are still available later this year, near the holiday season (I doubt they will be), I'll try to pick one up.

LOL EDIT 2: I didn't mean to quote my previous post... I'll blame it on a head cold that I have.
