Just been watching the footage of Robin played with Gary and I have to admit I do feel that Gary's live shows would not suffer if he got an extra guitarist. Just the little details that Robin made the sound so much bigger than what I've heard the band sound before before. Just that extra bit of punch, what do you guys think?

Thanks for getting in touch with us. No it was completely unintentional. Here's a message from Gary for you:

    Hello Ryan,

You've probably realised already that a glitch on our UK store has allowed a few copies of the entire Splinter album to be downloaded instead of just the I Am Dust song. If these files are released to the public before the official release date on October 14th it would be a disaster for me and undo so much of the seven long years it has taken me to make the album. I hope you will understand then why I would ask you to keep those files secret until October 14th. I can't make you, and I certainly don't want to try to bully or beg. It was our mistake and we will have to live with that, you have done absolutely nothing wrong. But, you can make a huge difference to the success of the album, one way or the other.

Apart from all that, I really hope you like the album.

    Bye,

    Gary Numan.

Totally forgot to post, but the show in Vancouver was pretty terrific. Spent the entire show 2nd row from the stage on the left side...to give you an idea of how bloody intimate the venue was:

Electro and industrial music pioneer Gary Numan has added a second date at The Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever after selling out the first date in just ten minutes. The new show will be on October 18th. Tickets are currently available through Ticketfly, for more info and to purchase, click HERE.

This intimate performance set against the backdrop of one of Los Angeles' oldest cemeteries, will take place just three days after the release of Numan's new album Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind)' and will allow him to showcase new material in an appropriately dark setting.

Numan is currently on the road for a run of dates that included a performance at Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival, the upcoming Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit in Asheville, NC and supporting dates for Nine Inch Nails. See below for a complete list of upcoming live dates.

Gary Numan will release 'Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind)' on October 15th, his first new studio album in over seven years. A long-time advocate of artist independence, 'Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind)', will be released on Numan's own label Machine Music. Numan co-produced his 20th studio album with long-time collaborator and producer Ade Fenton and also features some sublime guitar work from Nine Inch Nails guitarist Robin Finck. The album was recorded in England and completed at Numan's home studio in Los Angeles, California, following his permanent move to the US at the end of 2012.

    Upcoming North America Tour Dates:
10/17 - The Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever, LOS ANGELES, CA
10/25 - The Masquerade, ATLANTA, GA
10/26 - Mountain Oasis Festival, ASHEVILLE, NC
10/27 - Black Cat, WASHINGTON, DC
10/29 - Music Hall Of Williamsburg, BROOKLYN, NY

Question for @Ryan and anyone else who pre-ordered Splinter from the website, did you get charged for the order right away or will the money go out when the album is actually released?

Q magazine in UK gave Splinter 4/5. Described it as, and I'm paraphrasing here, 'very much like NIN'. Goody gum drops. What a great year this has been for music!

I'm seriously looking forward to this record, I'm hoping it'll pick up Jagged's big, cinematic choruses and combine them with Dead Son Rising's polished production values.

It's pretty awesome. Not as aggressive as Pure. Kind of a combination of Pure and DSR.

I'm looking forward to the demos/remix CD as well, and the Japanese bonus track "The Dark In Me".

It's a lot like Dead Son Rising in production - feels like a brother to it for sure. It doesn't have big Jagged Choruses but has a few with pretty big choruses. I was hoping initially for it to be more like Jagged but to be honest i'd glad it turned out like it has. It's a great album.
