Our GOP candidate for the senate has been trotting her blind veteran husband for cheap pops during the campaign. Her latest ad is all the husband. Not pertinent in regards to issues at all. Disgusting. She shows signs of being a Marjorie Green type if she actually wins. The race is close with the 30 year incumbent. Scary. This is Washington state. BTW the democrat senator is no prize either but clearly the lesser of 2 evils.

538 almost got it perfect in 2012.

538 was the only poll forecaster state that Trump could win in 2016.

They aren't a crystal ball, but they give you a reasonable sense of where things are.

I swear if Dr Oz wins after the revelation that he experimented on puppies and killed over 300 of them in the process, this world sucks. I'm sick enough of celebrity television star politicians. Fuck Arnold Schwarzenegger, fuck Ronald Reagan, fuck Sonny Bono, fuck Donald Trump, and fuck you Dr Oz, you puppy-killing fuck.

It has NOTHING to do with the actual CANDIDATE for this midterm.

It’s ENTIRELY about party control and who gets to vote for issues like abortion, 2nd amendment, taxes, civil rights, voting rights, college costs, climate, Social Security, Medicare, etc.

    And “Replacement Theory.”

    And democracy.

BOTH PARTIES would elect an electrified corpse if it meant they got majority control.

Republicans in several states have made it clear (like, saying it out loud) that if they are elected, Republicans will remain in power for infinity. Kind of like in Russia, where they have “elections” (cough) but the only candidate is Putin.

Republicans have made it clear - STATING IT IN PLANS AND OUT LOUD - that they fully intend to increase the age limit on Social Security AND Medicaid to 70, to require people on SSDI (disability) to work in some capacity, and to move the “entitlement” spending to “discretionary” instead of “mandatory” so they can review it each year and cut it if they deem necessary.

These MAGA candidates are saying that they won’t concede if they lose, because they’ll assume there was cheating.

They’re all bitching that the election results won’t be known on election night.

Except the biggest REASON for that is Republicans in heavily-populated states refuse to allow vote-counting to start until the POLLS CLOSE (vs. when early voting begins). Then they scream “FRAUD” when it’s delayed. And their voters believe it. Because they’re sore losers. And the victims of propaganda.

They’ve been on Twitter for months claiming that if “brain dead” Fetterman wins, it’s fraud. They’re creating foregone conclusions in advance.

And cable media is mostly owned by conservatives, who treat elections like horse races, with poll results like odds for betting, except the media tips the “polls” in favor of the conservatives so that the Democrats or liberal-leaning independents think “ah, shit, the conservatives are up 6 points, they’re gonna win, I might as well stay home.”

Which is why the media was banned from broadcasting the election results until the polls are closed on election night.

Except now the media has figured out how to fuck with elections via useless “polling data” of 700 people who are supposed to represent 60-150 million voters.

The media wants you to treat each candidate like a horse in the Kentucky Derby, instead of the candidate who’s gonna take your Social Security and leave you to die in a homeless shelter when you’re 80, or take your health insurance and Medicare. AND possibly reverse the gay marriage ruling via a new DOMA legislation, or create dangerous anti-trans laws, or ban anything they think hurts white people, etc.

Steve Kornacki every election night? He looks “talented” with his “big board” but he’s reduced it to Las Vegas-style odds betting instead of people possibly losing rights, and the lives of minorities and marginalized being in danger, or this country’s democracy being in danger.

Listen to this “American First Legal” ad. All bullshit propaganda. And DANGEROUS shit.

    https://politico-audio-feed.simpleca...first-legal-ad

    Who’s behind that?

STEPHEN MILLER. The only White Nationalist Jew I’ve ever seen.

The Republicans MUST NOT be allowed to take back control of the Senate; further, the Democrats or left-leaning Independents must take a MUCH LARGER control of the Senate, so that term limits can limit SCOTUS:

    https://www.amacad.org/ourcommonpurp...mmendation-1-8

Poll workers across the country are wearing bulletproof vests, per advise of law enforcement, due to ongoing threats. They also vary their routes to work each day, as advised. Many poll workers have quit. In Texas, drop box contents are picked up by poll workers and armed Sheriffs as escorts.

The Capitol Police report that Congress members and their families receive thousands of genuine threats per month.

AOC, in addition to 24/7 security, sleeps in a different room each night, per security advise.

And Trump is on Truth Social fomenting more of this, all day.

Houston we have a problem: link below is from a recent Biden speech where he says he met the inventor of the insulin drug. Problem is the guy who invented that died in the 1940s. Not sure if the link will work but here it is:

    Is that real?

Either way, Jesus Tap Dancing Christ. HOW can the dems be so goddamn incompetent? You get the biggest softball toss of all time in that you get to follow up the Trump admin and you just completely shit the bed all along the way. Roe V Wade was just overturned. And yet, here we are. R's are going to run the table in the midterms. Point the finger at rednecks in middle america all you want for 2016, but this time around they have no one but themselves to blame.

You want evil or incompetent? Those are the only 2 choices. Yay 'merica!

    Wow

I mean don't get me wrong, I VOTED for the man after all. I will always choose incompetent before I choose evil. But one of these days I'd like to vote in an election without feeling the urge to cover my nose from the stench coming from the folks I'M having to vote for.

At least keep the man inside and out of public view until Wednesday, right? Seems like a lot at stake here.

My advice, vote, but also don't get emotionally invested in the outcome. This country is absolutely fucked. A sweep for the Rs is a quick death. But even if the Ds pull this one out of their ass, something tells me we're all still fucked anyway.

In Washington all voting is done by mail. I sent my ballot in over a week ago with plenty of nose holding especially regarding our senate race. The democrats won't run her but I would vote for Elizabeth Warren in a heartbeat. I would've voter for her or Bernie Sanders last time easily & had been looking to do some volunteer work maybe (health considerations might've curtailed this) but the party effectively sabotaged both of them. Elizabeth Warren is a very smart woman & might be the closest we could get to truly progressive now. I fear Bernie is just too old now although a lot of what he's been talking about for years is sadly coming true.

Honestly might be the best chance for Dems in 2024, Hate/Fear wins elections and 2020 showed us Trump certainly inspires that. Someone like Desantis with all the nefarious intent but not as much public treason/ethical issues might be able to recover the central Rs.

You are your age and can’t figure out how to post a link but that’s not a symbol of intellectual capacity.

    Jesus fucking Christ

    WHO CARES?!??

This is what’s wrong with everyone not Republican.

Trump said there were AIRPORTS DURING THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR!!!

Republicans: “So what? I’m voting for him. Fuck off.”

    Democrats want Perfection Jesus.

Republicans want a cheerleader with a pulse. They are a totally organized powerful front.

Democrats? Correcting your grammar while voting for the utopian unicorn.

2016: Had we all organized solidly behind the email lady and not splintered, we wouldn’t have 3 more conservatives in SCOTUS and Roe wouldn’t have fallen and there wouldn’t be 225+ ultra-conservative super young Federalist judges with lifetime appointments installed to the Federal courts. She lost by a tad more than 70,000 votes Re the Electoral College.

That’s less than the population of Appleton, WI.

The Republicans are actually WAY smarter, FAR less splintered and FAR more organized …

And it’s likely why they will be our overlords for eternity.

I really think that DeSantis is very dangerous. (Trump and DeSantis are BOTH bad.) DeSantis is smarter (relatively speaking lol). We shouldn’t discount him. He’s an awful awful man. With a Bible and a former-newscaster wife.

Word is that Trump will wait until after the midterms to announce a candidacy.

    He hates DeSantis.

But I agree with you that fear seems to motivate voters. I hope so, anyway!

Re above discussion: Any talk of the DNC “sabotaging” a candidate (thereby discounting literally millions of voters who chose a candidate during primaries without undue burden) falls strictly into the same playbook as the Trump “stolen election” rhetoric, which removes the agency of voters in the same manner. Actually, Republicans are claiming they got the “stolen election” idea FROM the Democrats, either from the “Russia” conspiracy or from the Bernie conspiracy.

Because of the de facto two-party system, the Democratic Party gets to appeal to a far broader ideological base than the Republican Party. Democrats get to appeal to anyone from right-of-center to anyone to the left of that. Socially progressive or ecologically sound stances don't even get clearly articulated as party lines, because they are deemed too divisive if they're not pretty much already in the constitution. They can claim their party is ideologically pluriform all they want, but the only clear message the party as a whole has had since Bush II is: "hey, at least we aren't obvious cryptofascists". Either the Republican Party turns towards the canonical words of Christ or some new "centrist" party makes it as a realistic competitor with considerable help of billionaires. There doesn't seem to be any other way to get the Democratic Party united behind a more clearly defined political identity. Save for maybe an actual immediate existential threat to the American identity.

Yeah it’s interesting that some Democratic candidates are in fact directly attempting to appeal to “Democrats, Republicans and Independents” and by “Republicans” they mean not the crazy ones, because the only candidate the not-crazy ones have to choose from on their team is clearly a fascist or will at least tow the authoritarian or theocratic line.

I’ve seen Beto directly speak to “Democrats, Republicans and Independents” in his Gubernatorial campaign many times, as well as Tim Ryan in Ohio.

Because Abbott and J.D. Vance? Hello?!?

The only unifying theme in the Democratic Party right now, as it should be, is: Save democracy and the republic.

Many voters don’t seem to fully grok that it’s in danger.

And the hard right, in their typical smoke-and-mirrors fashion, is spreading ridiculous memes saying the U.S. isn’t a democracy stfu.

While I was on Twitter (I deactivated my account the night Elon Dickhead took over), I provided this information:

    https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/...-108hdoc94.pdf

What form of government do we have in the United States?

The United States, under its Constitution, is a federal, representative, democratic republic, an indivisible union of 50 sovereign States. With the exception of town meetings, a form of pure democracy, we have at the local, state, and national levels a government which is: ‘‘federal’’ because power is shared among these three levels; ‘‘democratic’’ because the people govern themselves and have the means to control the government; and ‘‘republic’’ because the people choose elected delegates by free and secret ballot.

A man broke into the home of the Speaker of the House, looking to hog-tie and kidnap Speaker Pelosi.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...g/10650638002/

"In the course of the interview, DePape articulated he viewed Nancy as the 'leader of the pack' of lies told by the Democratic Party," the federal affidavit states. "DePape also later explained that by breaking Nancy’s kneecaps, she would then have to be wheeled into Congress, which would show other Members of Congress there were consequences to actions.”

The federal affidavit describes the bizarre conduct of the suspect, who broke into the house through a glass door and confronted Pelosi in an upstairs bedroom.

DePape, carrying a backpack containing a tape, rope, a second hammer, gloves and zip ties, allegedly roused Pelosi from sleep, saying he was "looking for Nancy."

When Pelosi told him the speaker was not at home, the suspect allegedly removed the zip ties, stating that he intended to restrain Pelosi so that DePape "could go to sleep" because he was tired from carrying the backpack to the home.
    HOWEVER, see this crap:

    https://www.metroweekly.com/2022/11/...si-attack/amp/

Meanwhile, Donald Trump is on Truth Social fomenting this violence all day, every day.

On October 31st, Trump posted this on TS:

The Witch Hunt continues, and after 6 years and millions of pages of documents, they've got nothing. If I had what Hunter and Joe had, it would be the Electric Chair. Our Country is Rigged, Crooked, and Evil - We must bring it back, and FAST. Next stop, Communism!"

Nah, just cut taxes for the rich. A rising tide lifts all boats. Works every time...

J/K. I'm going to turn off MSNBC and put on some Star Trek. I can't watch this.

It won't end well. I predict the GOP will control both houses. The next two years will be a clusterfuck and then things will only get worse in 2024.

J.B wins Governor again (fuck you, Darren Balley), and Tammy Duckworth retains her Senate seat!

    Stay tuned! Yay Illinois!

Watching closely for Wisconsin results, hoping Mandela kicks Johnson’s ass.

Meanwhile… Florida is a hopeless shit hole.
