The instrumental ending of Over And Out it's one of the most beautifui and chilling things I've ever heard.

Well, this thing just passed the car test. There are some fucking bangers and good lord, I'm Not From This World encompasses the album artwork to a T. This is great.

There’s no way this isn’t the final NIN album.

Over and Out feels like an end.

The NIN Hotline account retweeted your tweet about looking forward to Shit Mirror — does it live up to your expectations?

    I highly doubt this.

It’s supposed to. It’s the last song on the record.

I mean, so did Ripe with Decay. This isn't The End, IMO. It's a perfect end to the trilogy. Including the "feels like I've been here before" callback to Branches/Bones. We've also had another title with "over and out" in it and there have been 23 years of NIN since that release.

With Atticus officially in the fold, they're just getting started again.

(I hear you on the critical listening re: the marimbas.)

Just finished: TRULY BEAUTIFUL AND DEEPLY SATISFYING CONCLUSION TO THE TRILOGY. Wanted to write that in all caps in case Trent and Atticus are skimming, it'll be more likely to jump out at them. Wonderful album, very surprising in terms of the direction things went and production. Really thoroughly loved the sound this LP took. There is a real evolution of the sound and progression of the theme across the album. I may have been primed because someone mentioned it but there is a feeling of space, event and narrative here that very much make me think of some of the more experimental parts of The Slip. I usually don't like it when people compare a new album to that thing on older album X, but it really jumped out at me, in a new and interesting way, not in retreading old territory.

Since it's NIN, I knew it'd almost definitely be good, though the conclusion of a trilogy is almost always where people mis-step. I can understand why this album took longer than expected, since Trent talked about them needing to allow it to reveal itself to them. In the end, it's a beautiful conclusion and perhaps one of the most satisfying conclusions to a trilogy narrative I've heard. As the final note trailed off, feeling like it's drawing itself back out there and away...there was a feeling of open endedness...of life continuing...it's hard to put into words. It left me with chills and feeling deeply inspired. Can't wait to spend the next year or so really getting to know this album. I'm sure I'll be going on a journey with it, as I have every other NIN record.

I had never though of this. You're right. If Trent was planning to retire soon, why would he make Atticus an official member?

Indeed. I ran into some dentonits at a bar in NYC before the final Dillinger Escape Plan shows too. Nuts.

Back on topic, my mom also enjoys Bad Witch. She sent me a text saying she was doing the dishes and had to do a double take once Trent's vocals on Over and Out came in because she thought it was Bowie.

This entire album comes across to me as more hard hitting and aggressive than NTAE, which I alreadly considered to be a pretty aggressive record to begin with, but stuff like Shit Mirror and Ahead Of Ourselves just eats it up.

Play The Goddamned Part just shows me how important instrumentals are, God Braek Down The Door works wonderfully with it.

I think I'm Not From This World gave me a genuine feeling of anxiety attack.

Over And Out is mangnificient, is it also the longest track with vocals?

Anyway, I can't wait when more people will get to hear this once it officially releases. I will be meanwhile listening to this on a loop, I have no idea which part of this trilogy is the best so far, just amazing stuff, all around.

What I know for defenite though is that Bad Witch is the most unique and "progressive" out of this trilogy, the most different NIN record of, ever.

Man, good years to be a NIN fan, this is really NIN at its strongest. I really really hope this album will do well all around, it deserves it.

Man, I wish I could hear the 24 bit WAV. I just have standard 16 bit FLAC. About to put this album on for the first time.

I converted the FLACs to v0 LAME and it sounded pretty good. I'm anxiously waiting for that .WAV download later this week!

Yeah, I usually always go for the WAVs, especially when backing up on my external HD. Then I'll keep the FLAC converts on my computer or go back to my external HD and convert to whatever I want.

The Background World is the longest track with vocals that I can think of.

Same, waiting for early vinyl or the real release. This is a joy to read. Avoiding lyrics though.

For those who have it, could we get a confirmation on bitrate of FLAC vs WAV? Reading conflicting information.
