I can't fucking wait to hear Ahead of Ourselves based on the descriptions and reactions. Hope the next 33 days go by fast!
Dying to hear this track. Seems like everyone is saying it's great from the first listen alone.

Per the RIAA website's definition of an EP: "Must include at least three but no more than five different songs."
Per iTunes (you know, the people Trent actually works for) the regulations of what constitutes an EP: "The release has a total of four to six (4-6) tracks and the entire release is less than 30 minutes."
Bad Witch is six tracks and over 30 minutes long. By every conceivable definition, it is (barely) not an EP.
It's almost certainly been deliberately delayed to release of the vinyl along with the digital version. That wasn't the case with NTAE or AV
both of which had physical components + long delay of vinyl. In this case the physical component seems to be the vinyl.
Vinyl production delays are approx 3 months so assuming that we are about 1 month off vinyl being ready, they likely had this ready to go
in early March 2018.

I understand its a short album, but really can't you take the LP clarification as purely an artistic decision? He doesn't need any reason to call it whatever he wants (go take a look at some of Autechre's EPs).
And you're ranking it already on the basis of one song? Such an angry post for something so innocuous haha
Ya'll spending too much time arguing about EP and LP.
An album is what an artist/band says it is, end of story.
Perhaps some of you remember The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute which although has a running time of 77 minutes, contains 5 songs. Studio disputes over EP/LP forced a song to be split into 8 CD tracks as a result.
Seriously, what is the point of all this? I get the discussions before we knew the track lengths, because specifically clarifying it as an album indicated it might be a surprisingly long six track release, but now that we have track length info, who gives a shit whether it’s an EP or LP? It’s just Bad Witch plain and simple, people!
Maybe it isn’t an EP or an album at all and is really just an edible arrangement or a temporary tattoo and the friends we made along the way
How about calling it a Double-Deluxe Extended Single (with bonus tracks)?
Whatever it is, after hearing the unreleased Bad Witch tracks at the Denver Coliseum yesterday, I'm extra excited to buy it!
Jesus Christ, if one just says that it's the upcoming record then the arguing finishes. NIN fans, man....
Can we all just appreciate the fact that we're getting a new collection of songs by our favourite band, the third in a year and a half, and the fifth major NIN release since Wave Goodbye? (not to mention HTDA and the soundtracks) Oh, and they're touring, too.
I for one am happy that TR is being this prolific. It may not happen forever. Enjoy it while it lasts rather than bickering over pointless technicalities.
Yeah - for me there were hints of a creative renewal with HM and Welcome Oblivion, and then these EPs (including the three songs I've heard from Bad Witch) are mostly some of the best work they've done in almost two decades. I will miss them in what is likely to be a semi-extended absence after Bad Witch, if the past is anything to go on.
Fellow niners! would all of us just enjoy the moment? Lets enjoy the record (see, i didn't say neither EP nor album) when it comes out. If you haven't ordered it yet, please do so either at the NIN store or at Amazon. If you don't know where, here are the links:

Want to know why it's being labelled an LP instead of an EP?
EPs show up with singles in Spotify and other streaming services = they get lost easier.
EPs feel less important in today's music-isn't-as-important-as-it-once-was world. Why make it easier to ignore?
We're not charging any more for it so why get worked up about it?
