After listening to pretty much exclusively Drab Majesty (and the new Torche) the last few days, I think I can say that at the moment the new album is my favorite of the three. But like someone previously said, it's all really good so there really isn't a bad album. Good lord though, man, Ellipsis is such a goddamn banger. It'd be interesting to see how this band would have translated in the 80s.
Long Division > Ellipsis.
*ducks out*
Honestly any one of these songs could be someone's favorite. 8 bangers in a row
Anybody else having issues with the VR Sex album on vinyl? I've had two brand new copies and each had locked grooves in different parts of Side A. I even tried increasing the tracking force on my cartridge (to the upper end of the manufacturer's suggested range). Do I just have the worst luck or is this a problematic pressing? Might have to just get the CD instead.
Strange, I really cannot get into VR Sex but it's been all about the Drab recently. Can't wait for their show here in October.
On another note: has anyone met them? I'm thinking about doing an interview, but I'm not sure yet.
just got into this band after hearing a review for Modern Mirror on the I Die:You Die podcast. after hearing Modern Mirror, my first reaction to it was that it was a darker version of New Order. i think the album sounds great especially if you're in the mood for some darker new-wavey type music.
now, listening to their backcatalogue, makes me want to wish i had heard of them sooner. like the OP mentioned, they are making the best Cure songs in the past 20 years. i hope i get a chance to see them on tour soon. heck, i'd love to see a Cure/Drab Majesty tour. bring out the goths again!
Been listening to this album non-stop since it's release and it gets better and better after every play. Love that every song makes me want to contemplatively understand the lyrics on the floor and dance along to it at the same time. Oxytocin is my current favorite, I absolutely love Mona's voice, so happy they're mixing up the vocals. My only neg comment is that I wish it were longer...
Has anyone seen them on their current tour yet? I'll be going in August, I can't wait! It's a stacked bill all around, really loving the dais label.
I think 8 tracks is perfect. No room for filler. Instantly replayable. I wish more artists kept things on the short side.
All 8 tracks are excellent, i'm just being a greedy fan and want more songs
