no surprise he would rather hold a rally than deal with a natural disaster i guess even fox is tiring of his bull shit and are not broadcasting his rallies. kind of on repeat me good everyone else bad we're spending fema money in record amounts mostly on incarcerating immigrants the tax cuts put a gaping hole in our revenue stream. and trump is spending like a drunken sailor. look if we fail to recognize what every scientist in the world is saying it will be game over. and no amount of tribalism or ideology is going to help.

Anybody think getting Kanye in to blather on in the White House means Trump is scared for the mid term elections?

EDIT I take that back actually, I watched the meeting on a jimmy kimmel report and he just seems totally manic, now I’m thinking it’s more like mental illness. Not that I really know. Even Trump seems really shell shocked by it. What are they achieving by publicising that meeting??

Too simple to just sum up like that. Plenty of info that explains it here.

Thanks, that led me to here https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/midter...rats-1.4855905

A Canadian site and didn't really answer my question but thanks!!

For Canadian politics it is quite simple; the elected party is either a majority ( >50% seats) and can more easily push things. Or they are a minority and need the support of the opposition to pass their bills.

We don't have midterm elections at a Federal level.

We're voting for all 435 seats in the House as they are re-elected every two years. We're also voting for 35 Senate seats that have reached the end of their six-year terms. The odds are increasing that Democrats will take the House back from the Republicans, but the odds are also increasing that Republicans will keep the Senate since 26 of the Senate seats up are being defended by Democrats and only 9 by Republicans.

Right now, Trump and the Republicans control everything. If Dems can take one chamber of Congress, they can slow down or halt Trump's agenda similar to what happened to Barack Obama in 2010.

Thank you. Now I know there is stigma with supporting Trump; I went to a Godsmack/Shinedown concert in the US and I befriended some concert goers, teachers actually. They told me they felt embarrassed by Trump.

Meanwhile to me (and I don't know much at all) Canadian dairy farmers and Canadian steel workers are feeling as though the USA got the better end of the deals Trump had recently made to NAFTA. USA workers will benefit, Canadian workers/farmers are scrambling to compensate and the Canadian gov is already subsidizing dairy farmers.

Isn't it good that Trump has the balls to make some real moves that benefit the USA?

They're not benefiting American workers; they're benefiting corporations and the super rich. Pig farmers here in Tennessee are furious about the tariffs and saw the proposed bailout for them as insulting. These are people who voted for Trump. Also, separating families at the border, banning immigrants from entering the US, and appointing a sexual assaulter to the Supreme Court isn't worth any trade-off, and I'm likely forgetting other human rights abuses this administration has perpetrated because it feels like it all happened 20 years ago.

Well, whatever happens on November 6, November 7 (or shortly thereafter) is gonna make a lot of people happy and a lot of people really angry. Time will tell who gets what.

Mueller ready to delivery key findings in Trump probe

Reportedly, yes or no answers on clear evidence of collusion and clear evidence of obstruction of justice are set to be answered in release...if it is made public, that is.

If only things were that simple... so when Trump's bullshit tariffs hit the pockets of farmers (read: his voting base), he subsidizes their losses with a 6 billion dollar check... and that money still comes from somewhere. It's a form of socialism his supporters like. Maybe if he can win that lawsuit against California for keeping net neutrality alive he can take it out of there, because we sure as shit aren't voting for him and he knows it.

Regarding the kind of balls I'd like our leaders to have, it'd be the sort that doesn't have him licking Putin's boots.

He resigned in August. And just a reminder re: Mueller:

That doesn’t necessarily mean Mueller’s findings would be made public if he doesn’t secure unsealed indictments. The regulations governing Mueller’s probe stipulate that he can present his findings only to his boss, who is currently Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. The regulations give a special counsel’s supervisor some discretion in deciding what is relayed to Congress and what is publicly released.

Putin may want another cold war. People living in fear is right up his alley. Add in some chaotic propaganda so that you never know what to believe and suddenly the USA is ready to tear itself apart. Not that it's far from that as it is though.

Trump Administration Wants to Change Definition of Gender to Restrict Transgender Rights
    https://www.rollingstone.com/politic...nition-745214/

The Trump administration memo recommended the government define gender “on a biological basis that is clear, grounded in science, objective and administrable.” Under the new guidelines, the only gender options would be male or female, and gender could not be changed over the course of a person’s life. Genetic testing would be used to determine a person’s gender, if need be.
In other words, this wonderful administration refuses to even accept people who have had actual sex-change operations. Even if Trump were to be successfully removed before 2020, we would end up with President Pence keeping shit like this alive.

For the record, the president - the only person at his level of authority who claimed that Khashoggi's death was probably not suspect and the Saudis are great - is now saying that it's "the worst cover up ever".

Bro, you were literally the only one who believed he wasn't murdered by the government. So congratulations, you just called yourself the biggest moron ever.

Any mention yet here of the bombs? CNN NY was just evacuated. In the past 48 hours, bombs have been found at or near the homes of the Clintons, Obamas, Soros, and the White House. Seems a lot like it's from a single source...

Edit: For clarity, a number of the bombs were apparently intercepted by Secret Service before arriving at their intended destination. Scary shit.

Edit 2: Now another one sent to Debbie Wasserman Schultz's office. One of the earlier bombs was addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan.

Don't shoot the messenger, but it's already being spun on social media as a stunt by the Democrats to gain leverage for the midterms. Supposedly the "proof" is in the fact that every one of these devices, so far, has been intercepted with no detonation.

Fair enough. Also however, what is known so far of the packages:

    - Manila in color, identical components found inside.
    - Return address belonging to a prominent Democratic official.

Nobody is naming that person yet for obvious safety concerns, but seems like a set up.
