The Force Awakens -- no particular issues with the vfx. Kind of a blend of Empire and Return Of The Jedi in terms of tones I think... I like it well enough.

The Last Jedi -- definitely some vfx asset integration issues and the story was all over the place... but was still better dialogue than Attack Of The Clones. Not sure why they Fin a slapstick character (at least for the first 3/4 of the movie). Did I enjoy it? mmm... yeah.

The Rise Of Skywalker -- much better vfx again... and surprising me as much as anyone, I just got The Feels, but in a good way, at the end when Rey adopted the Skywalker name. I'm in for whatever comes next. And it was nice that Luke finally got his X-Wing out of some water. :P

And here's my silly thread of screen-grabs I grabbed while watching... just click to see the whole thing

Do I need to watch Clone Wars before taking a look at the Bad Batch? Sure I won't understand everything if I don't, just asking as I'm looking for some light and short action to watch after work.

i started clone wars a couple months ago. it's a little goofier than i was expecting, but it's not bad. until you get to an episode that's like a C-3PO & jar-jar mess around, and i just gave up. it was so fucking stupid and unbearable.

Finally got copies of 4K77 and 4K83.

Until Disney releases the originals, I don't see the need to watch any other versions. Especially Jedi, even scenes in the new versions that don't SEEM like they have been changed, have still been molested by computers to the point where they come across as disjointed fan edits. This actually feels like I'm watching a real film.

How do they compare to Harmy's Despecialized editions (aside from resolution, Harmy's are only 720)? Those are the only versions I've been watching since they were released.

As far as I know the 4k77 and 4k83 versions are scanned from old 33mm prints of the movies. So it isn't like Harmy's, where he's gone through and removed all the special edition BS. They are direct scans of the original films, so the special edition BS was never there in the first place. Like lucas intended.

Star Wars Visions are really REALLY good! Probably the weakest for me were Tatooine Rhapody and TO-B1 but some absolutely outstanding work on The Twins, The Village Bride, The Ninth Jedi and Lop and Ocho, all of which i'd happy see expended in some shape or form!

So they just released all of these at the same time? no weekly build-up?

also I did not know they were ready to be shown, thought it was a next year release. might watch after What If tonight.

That is my understanding as well. I think 4k80 is supposed to drop before the end of the year. We'll see.

I was just looking around online and found yet another way to watch the OT. d+77, d+80, and otd83 are fan edits that use the new 4k blu rays as well as the 4k film scans from 4k77-83 to get them as close to theatrical as possible. So kinda an updated version of what Harmy's did but with all of it sourced from 4k.

I haven't watched them but seems interesting. When all of this is over someone with more time than me needs to tell me which versions are the best.

Strangely, I really enjoyed the grindhouse editions I watched a year ago, that was a lot of fun.

I was actually pretty fucking HAPPY when the updated OT was released in theaters in the late 90s. I saw each of them at least a dozen times, and I honestly enjoyed some of the changes: Cloud City, for instance, or the noise when the storm trooper hits his head, or the replacement of the cardboard people, for instance.
