Reminds me of the on the nose deaths, when they're in the waiting room and the shark is dangling off of the guys leg lol. Maybe he went from birds, to deep sea creatures?

I watch the teaser and I feel optimistic, but I really don’t know. The original is one of my favorite movies, and when was the last time Tim Burton actually made a really good movie? His last great movie imo was Ed Wood. I guess Sweeney Todd was ok…

I'd agree, though I'd say that Big Fish is in his "controversial" period, where no one really agrees on whether he's still good or being a bit too much. I'd frame that period between Ed Woods and (up to and including) Sweeney Todd. Then we enter Alice territory and hoooo boy.

Big Fish didn't work for me... I don't know what's different about the relationship I have with my dad, but it seems like the movie really resonates a lot with people there. It explains via this fable the complex duality of father figures, and it's endearing and all, but it just didn't affect me in any real way. It felt flamboyant and overly theatrical, McGregor's character bothered me... I feel like I "get it," but it just wasn't for me. I'm sure it's a really good movie though. If it hits that many people like that, there's something in it, even if it's not for me.
Ed Wood and Beetlejuice are my favorite Burton movies. Love his two Batman movies, Edward Scissorhands, and Pee Wee, but beyond that... well, I don't know, Frankenweenie felt like an anomaly compared to the other stuff he'd started putting out. Frankenweenie was awesome. I don't understand how anyone could have liked that Alice in Wonderland movie though, and Planet of the Apes was just astonishingly bad. I guess the Wednesday tv series was entertaining enough, though that first season definitely could have concluded better. Fell apart really similar to how Sleepy Hollow did in the final act.
Hopefully he has enough reverence for what he created w/ the original Beetlejuice that he won't just shit on it... the guy who wrote the original screenplay/story is dead, and while Burton's aesthetic and vision helped bring it to life perfectly and I wouldn't change a thing about it, it's really all about that story.
I'm hoping Beetlejuice Beetlejuice isn't just an attempt to revisit some former glory, but to make a movie that has a purpose to exist.

Corpse Bride is another one that seems to be looked over; I love that movie.
Big Fish I have only watched, once, when it was released and I remember really loving it. I'll have to rewatch, but I have a good feeling about Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Well, Frankenweenie is an old project, created back in the 80ies, so perhaps that's the source of the discrepancy.
I liked the chocolate factory, for all the wrong reasons, and I never watched it again, but it was as enjoyable to me as Transformers can be for some others. But it's Burton does Burton. He was accused of that flaw far earlier, some consider Mars Attacks his tipping point when things went sideways, I can see that.
Planet of the Apes doesn't count, the studios thought they could pull a Lynch Does Dune again and put PotA in Burton's hands... Went as well as one could expect.

Yeah, "Big Fish" is the last one i liked, i dislike his remake of "Charlie and the Chocolate factory" with a passion and all movies since 2003 are pretty forgettable (excluding some cool parts of Sweeney Todd)
I don't expect much of this one, i really love the original, so I'm thinking it will be the standard "reboot" with some fanservice, i hope I'm wrong, but right now I'm not excited at all...

I like that they're using a lot of practical special effects (seemingly), and they're still sticking to stop motion animation for the sandworms...
So all that is a good sign
