nine inch nails 2016 speculation (fat lady singing edition)

Despite us basically having no new musical output, what a busy year it's been for Trent & co. 2016-2017 is going to kick ass.

I don't find very likely he would release a soundtrack (or two even?) and a new album in a span of three months.

You mean like The Social Network/HTDA or Welcome Oblivion/Hesitation Marks?
Some things can be worked on a while ago and not released for some time, some things take different creative requirements and some things lead to another.

He pretty much just came out and said it without saying it. I guess it could be an EP instead of an LP, but it will be something.

We've never seen the candidates and the creepy clowns at two different places at the same time. Just sayin!

And with that I'll stop with the politics. #TR4Prezident2016

I'm guessing LP late this year, album next year. He hasn't really put out a single since Survivalism, so I don't know that he would go back to that now that he's not forced to by a label (I know he had some words for the Capital G single being an obvious money crab by the label knowing fans would want to buy it to be completionist, which is why it never got a Halo #).
I would love for a full album to come out this year. Say... on Nov 8th, for my birthday?

For NIN I really only count a single as something released as a Halo (or at least have its own "album art" image), and to be honest I didn't even remember CBH being released before Hesitation Marks as a digital single (I know the music video came out) because I went dark as far as NIN releases and visuals stuff until after Made In America, didn't want to spoil anything for my first show since the Wave Goodbye hiatus and never got the chance to go to a show to experience new music first.

Yes, but his Instagram account (where the picture came from) is "treznor".

I will fly to Russia and I will find where you live and I will install speakers on every wall, on every inch of floor, on every inch of roof and into the faucets of your sinks and your showerhead and everywhere and anything you attempt to do in your entire life will become nothing but loud horns and robots exploding in unholy orgasm and you will grow to love it, hush yo mouth

    Hang on, hang on

so is that pic above real and Trent commented? Because when I go to his instagram I see the original image with "before the flood team" or whatever captioned. Where did he say 2016 is not over yet?

It's in the comments on the original picture.

Yes agreed. Everyone loves that so much. I was thinking the other day, if you just want noise, listen to skrillex or Autechre or some shit like that. I like the tetseo theme but i would rather have a "song" with words and guitars and stuff. Not just noise with the ruiner chorus horns interjected. It would be more listenable with lyrics. I just dont really feel TR's fingerprint on that track. Could be a lot of artists. Facepalm away....

I've been on "NIN forms" since the late 90's. Fans have ALWAYS said how much they love NIN instrumentals. So... maybe in response... but probably not... TR puts out a shit tonne of instrumentals and people complain.

I myself have bashed NIN (which I regret and honestly don't know why I did) ... I don't know why we do it. Maybe we are just spoiled brats who will never be happy until we get 'Closer 2' and TR covered in talcum again.

I'm happy that TR is doing more than JUST sitting in NOTHING studios strumming on a guitar.

I do miss the Fragile Era where he kept us more up-to-date on NIN, and I'll go ahead and say it... I want a NIN/MM colab.

I had to scroll through, but I found the '2016 is not over yet' comment.

Adding to all the speculation - how about a remix? The Telepathe one was a while back. *Shrugs*

As for a new record - I wonder if the current political climate has got Trent pumped up to blast some seriously heavy stuff? I love funky/pop style NIN, don't get me wrong, but right now an assault style album would go down a treat I reckon.
