    All Time Best Live Albums

What are some of your all time favorite live albums? (not bootlegs, im talking official live releases here folks, but we should start a thread for that too....)

Here are some of my favorites...

Genesis - The Way We Walk Vol 1, The Shorts
My mom was a Phil Collins fan and this really takes me back to my childhood, one great song after another. Tonight, Tonight, I Cant Dance and Mama are stand out tracks here.

Rush - A Show of Hands
It's freakin Rush, what more else is there to say? And 80's Rush at that, with the keyboards to the MAXX. I love Subdivisions and Mystic Rythms and Red Sector A.

Pantera - Official Live 101 Proof
The triad of Walk, Becoming and 5 Minutes Aloe are face melting, and I love the Cat Scratch Fever riffs in Cowboys From Hell. The only complaint I have here is that they should have included all of Domination instead of just the last couple minutes that segue into Hollow. Oh well, the positives far outweigh the negatives on this one.

    • David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars Motion Picture Soundtrack (the final Ziggy concert, great performance of "My Death" and amazing guitar solos from Mick Ronson. phenomenal show.)
    • Led Zeppelin - How the West Was Won (I've always thought Song Remains the same was weak and this was the live album Zep fans deserved)
    • NIN - And All That Could Have Been (still love this and it was my live NIN before I got to see them)
    • Nirvana - MTV Unplugged (probably my most-listened live album)
    • Johnny Cash - Live at Folsom Prison (need I say anything? Legendary.)
    • Bob Dylan - "The Royal Albert Hall" Concert - Live 1966 (Bootleg Vol. 4) The infamous scream of "Judas!" Such a rip-roaring show where he gives zero fucks about his audience. Fantastic.
    • Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense (great songs, amazing groove. timeless.)

I'm sure I'll think of some others but these immediately pop into my head.

Queen's On Fire: Live At the Bowl, The Rolling Stones' No Security, King Crimson's just-released Live In Toronto 11.20.2015. Just a taste for obscurity I guess.

I think Sam Cooke's Live at Harlem Square Club is easily the greatest live album ever recorded, and it's probably in my top ten albums of all time. I had always liked Sam Cooke, but the first time I heard this it just completely blew me away. Love blasting this shit at top volume in the summer months.

I was going to say NIN And All That Could Have Been and got really excited when I saw you already typed it before realizing what forum I was posting on. Goddamnit.

Type O Negative - Bizarre Types bootleg CD is really good. Includes the covers that got left out of the official DVD release. Origin Of The Feces was pretend live, does that count?

I should preface this by saying that i mostly watched live vcr tapes and dvds rather than actually listening to live albums, aside from the Nirvana releases, as well as Different Stages by Rush, and A Radical Recital by Rasputina (which didn't receive video releases.) So i hope this still counts
    But here are my favorites.

Rush-A Show of Hands. ALL of their other live releases are incredible too, but i grew up with this one.

Page and Plant's Unledded was just SO fucking awesome. I was 14 and newly obsessed with Led Zeppelin.

The Song Remains The Same by Zeppelin- I know that LZ didn't want it released, and that HTWWW is regarded as the superior recording, but i will always have a soft spot in my heart for TSRTS. I watched the vcr tape literally hundreds of times growing up, along with A Show of Hands and Unledded.

I also got a big kick out of Oasis' There and Then. I'm not a huge fan, but i had a live vcr video of that when i had no tv reception and very little music, and There and Then helped me get through a very hard time in my life in '03 or '04. I watched it every day for a month or two, and that set is actually most of what i know of the band.

I loved Bowie's A Reality Tour. It feels like the definitive live set for me.

Seal's Live in Paris was wonderful.

A Radical Recital by Rasputina-they are one of my favorite bands of all time, and it's a great set.

Queen Rock Montreal blew me away.

I also loved Nirvana's Unplugged and From The Muddy Banks...

Finally, i know it may be a little early for "all time" status, but i really loved APC's Stone and Echo. I was very impressed with the mixing.

The recent Team Sleep Woodstock Sessions is, I think, better than their album. The raw, less professionally produced versions of the songs seem to suit them better, the choice of songs and their placement is better, and Chino sings on every song without any random guests.

Only correct answer is: Iron Maiden - Live After Death

I have them, of course, but they sound worse than most bootleg recordings.

AATCHB is ok, but I hate the way it starts. Why cut off the Pinion intro or whatever it was and just start out of nowhere with the TL beat? Come on TR, you're the master of building up tension! Oh, and leaving La Mer off the Audio release ...

Live After Death is a better album but I dig the tours from which A Real Live Ones were recorded from. Totally preferences based.
