    The genre they're in is...well.
No. Feels like pop-punk about pirate ships.

OK, trying to figure out the boundaries.

Loving the Nothing stuff that was recommended to me. Hard to find but good.

Well, considering "my roots" are more on the heavier side, I'll throw in some - in my humble opinion - good stuff that is not the usual 90's Scandinavian Metal everyone talks about, probably anyone into (Black) Metal will still know but also might serve as a starting point for those daring enough to check out something else:

As always, best served cold, dark and without any distractions.

I see you're into the heavier stuff, too.
Most of my music taste is. However I have a wide, diverse taste also.

I, for my part, have long started to separate art from artist. Otherwise I probably could not listen to any music at all.
It would make a difference to me if lyrically it was clearly a certain direction, but it's not. These guys have been dragged through the mud by association to the label Northern Heritage.

In BM there's so much discussion regarding every second band about being NSBM or not, that I got a bit tired of it.
In the end everyone has to decide for themselves where a line is drawn. And I respect if someone does not listen to a band for whatever reasons. For me it's the same as in the sexual abuse thread: there is no black and white, there's a lot of grey..

just copped Deicide/Kataklysm tickets for late August at a tiny ass spot in NJ. Will be my first show since last October, which was Manchester Orchestra acoustic outdoors. Time to dust up on my Deicide...haven't seen them in prolly 20 years or so.

Knocked Loose/Gatecreeper/Magnitude tour goes on sale in 6 hours. Friend is picking up tix for the Brooklyn show. Venues are smaller than they could be, so these shows will be utter carnage.

The Dark Nights: Death Metal compilation came out today and it's got some damn good bangers on it, but for some reason the entire album is censored. How METAL of you, DC.

The Newbury Comics variant is about $10 more than other ones, just so you know.

It's obnoxiously noticeable on a couple of tracks too. Backmasking and just straight up editing the words out.

My favorite slayer song being covered by a bad ass makeshift supergroup. Ellis killed and Ryan’s vocals are so great.

Oh, interesting. Since I really like Syndrome, the Church of Ra stuff is always worth looking into. I haven't seen this Fire Ritual stuff yet. When did they start/do this ? Really reminds me of this festival in the Austrian Alps I attended a couple times. Like this and this.

Probably still my favorite release of last year in terms of any band that would fall into this category here:

Oh, and this was just announced two days ago - Industrial Black Metal with some melodic twist? Interesting. Let's see what that will sound like in its entirety.
