    Sense8

So I finished the latest Wachowskis project this weekend. I hated the final episode, the Riley character and Spoiler: the 4 Non Blondes singalong but the rest was decent. Critics seem to be split on it.

I couldn't get passed the first episode. No particular reason other than it just felt like it was going nowhere and was getting to tedious to power through. I was thinking about giving it another try but with all the mixed reviews, I feel like this could just be another dud from the one-hit wonder Wachowskis.

This show is a freaking train wreck... I felt like I was on an acid trip watching this. Awful dialogue.. Confusing as hell narrative.. And wtf was up with that strap on scene?

Ok so what did you guys think of the feature length finale?

I was a little disappointed with the final few minutes.
Personally I felt like sexual identity was PART of the show, but the ending made it seem like it was ALL it was about.
And a bit of it was kind of absurd: Spoiler: the three way with Kala, her husband, and Wolfgang was just silly, and the ultimate, final image being a rainbow colored strap on was kind of ridiculous. I can't, for the life of me, understand what it was supposed to mean

I just felt like the show was about something deeper, like the commonality of human experience IN GENERAL, with LGBTQ experience being part of that whole.

I still dug the finale, but those last few minutes?
It felt as though the writers were mistaking fucking for love and empathy.

    re: what you spoiler tagged,

It was one of the opening shots of the show, so it was a shameless, queer callback. I thought the sex scene was perfect. And I thought those characters hooking up made a ton of sense. I also loved that they went that way instead of conflict. It was total fanservice.

Fucking IS love and empathy sometimes. It's definitely a big part of the human experience and a part of how we connect with each other.

Just wanted to chime in that I loved it, to add a more positive voice to the discussion about it. I thought it was a great statement about breaking down barriers and rules. Especially the hang-ups we all have over sex. No one is complaining about Wolfgang blowing things up with rocket launchers, but boy do you read a lot of flak about the sex. Says a lot about humans, really. Sure, the finale was cuts and splices of plots I am filling in as I think back on it, because the holes left behind are huge. It was a lovely fairytale ending, and done "for the fans." I wish I could have watched all the plots that were left wide open, but as of now, that is not to be. And maybe Lana doesn't want to continue it, now that she's had to make peace with it being killed by Netflix, and perhaps any offers to pick it up are coming with strings attached that she doesn't want to have for the show. I'm going to miss it.

@mostlymad and @playwithfire , don't get me wrong, I fucking LOVED this show.
And I'd forgotten the toy being one of the opening shots, so that certainly makes more sense now.
I guess I kind of wanted it to go deeper: I was hoping that maybe in the end, everyone in the world would become connected.
The more I've thought about the ending though, I haven't seen such in-your-face queerness since Queer as Folk, and that's pretty fucking cool.
I guess they HAD to tie things up with something like that ending.
I guess what I really wanted was MORE: that show was fucking awesome. And for it to go deeper, which I think it would have, it would have to not be over.

But i was thrilled that we got what we did.

Edit: you two also make really good points here.
