Earworm: get that song out of my head!

I've posted a coupe of times in the "things that pissed you off" thread that I had a bloody song stuck in my head and that it was PISSING ME OFF. It's a frequent phenomenon for me and I'm sure a lot of you are sufferers also so I thought we could all commiserate together.

    So today, it's this:

    THANK YOU, GOOGLE DOODLE!

    Someone please kill me.

This thread will be the end of me. I will inevitably click on everything, and they will all get stuck in my head, and I will hate everyone.

That said, my head has been a shockingly blank slate lately when it comes to songs. But I'll keep this in mind when something gets stuck again.

Fuck you very much, @Jinsai, for causing me two solid weeks of hell last year after you mentioned this one.

"Nyan cat", or "Look at my Horse, my Horse is Amazing", anyone? :-) No, no links, I don't hate you that much. ;-)

Everytime I hear "Hold Back the River", especially because of the part that goes "lonely waters..." I am reminded of David Bowie singing "Thunder Ocean...." in "Red Sails" from the Lodger album. I don't want James Bay to occupy a place in my mind that is reserved for David Bowie, so everytime I hear that song, I immediately start singing "Red Sails". The same happens to me with "Blurred Lines". I really, really, really don't want to like that song, but I like to beatbox, and that rhythm just rolls off the tongue... so I force myself to immediately switch to Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give It Up". So these two ear worms basically cause double trouble.
But my worst ear worm at the moment, and for the past months actually, is Roxy Music's "More Than This". It's especially annoying because there are not that many lyrics, so it's the same few lines over and over....

After singing the Duran Duran track to myself while prepping a lyric check on you, I realized you were referring to a different artist and song. I'm now bracing for two days of "and if the fire burns out there's only fire to blame..." That's what I get for being smug.

Well, I wrote songs when I was younger and occasionally, I still attach a melody to a certain phrase I catch from somewhere. The brain likes to be active, so I guess that's ok. There maybe was a bit TMI though in your post.

i was just describing it exactly.
    and that's just one example.
always random nonsense, always going on constantly!
    but i write songs too.

and that's a good way of explaining it...attaching a melody to a random phrase.

edit: as far as tmi, i wanted to explain just how nonsensical it is. @ambergris , maybe if i shortened it, it would be more easily understandable?

Nah, if you wanted to explain the whole situation, then you needed to write it that way.

My husband writes nonsense songs for everything all the time UNTIL I WANT TO FUCKING STAB HIM and he thinks it's hilarious. If I divorce him, this will be the grounds for divorce.

If I'm in the bathroom ...

[sung to the tune of the Doors' "Riders On the Storm"]
    BEAVIS IN THE JOHN ...

Well, I've now graduated from Beavis in the john to another set of lyrics I made up to the same tune, inspired by a show I started watching again and the related books I started to read.

Here's the few verses I've got so far:

    Jon Snow on the Wall
    Jon Snow on the Wall
    Trying not to fall
    While freezing his balls

And I'm stuck there and it's pissing me off. I have to finish that stupid song now!
