I got into nin around 2002, so this was my first anticipated album release. I remember all the bleedthrough stuff, watching the byit teaser over and over and over, being so excited it was being released on my birthday. Great, great times. I'd rank it as my third favorite nin album behind tds and the fragile. I went to one of the three warm up shows at uc davis and heard a few of the songs there for the first time, including with teeth which I instantly thought was amazing. The mix during the "quiet" part on the album is way too low, the piano is awesome on the live version. Home and non entity are fantastic as well, wish they were on the album proper.

Those were great, exciting times. Cheers to with teeth!

Really became all about NIN in 2001-2 ish (like ^). First real album release (like ^ again) - sure Still and TDS remastered were in there, but this was the first new music of NIN that I ever heard.

Instantly fell in love with the album. I can never get enough of it, All the love to Hand that feeds to Line begins to blur to Sunspots and on.

Lots has changed since this album came out, can't wait to see how it grows on me in another 10 years.

Fair point, but my thought process was more that he had everything but vocals figured out and figured them out over the years. I didn't learn about "Not So Pretty Now" until the With Teeth tour, and I don't recall the lyrics being on the poster. Then "Non-Entity" didn't surface for many years after that.

I doubt it, especially since he performed both songs on tour and the vocals were very much in line with what was released.

Yeah, as I mentioned above, I was definitely mistaken. I don't know where I got the idea.

My favorite era of NIN with my favorite album ever. I don't know what it is but pretty much every track off of With Teeth resonates with me. Also, Right Where It Belongs > Hurt.

I haven't listened to the album for such a long time...

I really loved the album, it was sort of NIN coming back and making a presence once again. Well Trent redsicovering himself again... I followed NIN across my home country of Australia when on tour there and managed to get into a Soundcheck in Sydney, meeting the band, and chatting to Trent briefly. I remember that moment of freezing up as soon as he said Hi to me and not exactly sure what I said or asked him but the experience was something ill never forget for the rest of my life.

I need to find the photos from the soundcheck....

Listening to the album brought back so many great memories, but I still don't think Getting Smaller fits into the album, for me it just a separate track thrown in.

I remember LIVE it being better but oh well. It's still a fantastic album.

With Teeth was NIN's last great album (with vocals), in my opinion. Lots of stand-out tracks in the rock mold. Seeing this thread makes me want to listen to it tonight before sleep.

EDIT: Listening to this one tonight.

Wish the chorus to Love Is Not Enough was totally different as far as vocal melody/pattern.. that is the only part of this album that sucks.

Everything else is gold. This is such a solid and enjoyable album. It's an album that the population at large can enjoy, while also enabling the population at large's collective mind to be opened to "alternative" currents.

    Feel the same...
I feel like everything done since has moments of greatness here and there.
But With Teeth was the last album that flowed and felt right from start to finish.

I'll give him props for tracks like My Violent Heart, The Great Destroyer, Satellite, and In Two

I really love HM and YZ as well.

I think The Slip ive listened to the least.

I'd like to see him attempt another "proper" double album in the vein of the Fragile but not sure which direction he will go in next...

With Teeth was the first NIN album I bought. Obviously I wasn't the huge NIN fan I am now back then, but over the course of the next two years I accumulated the rest of NIN's discography. "The Hand That Feeds" and other WT promotional songs weren't what made me an NIN fan - usage of NIN songs in a Weird Al polka medley and the first Final Destination movie were - but the timing of the album's release was certainly fortuitous in this regard. The same holds true for Garbage, whom I sought out after finding out a crush I had (I was a high school sophomore at the time) was a fan, and who released their 4th album Bleed Like Me in April 2005, a month before WT's release. If memory serves right, I bought WT at our local Best Buy alongside Green Day's International Superhits! collection, and WT was the first "explicit" album I purchased.

You know what would be a great celebratory gesture from Trent? Releasing the original THTF and EDIETS videos. The still shots of the latter have left me in a permanent state of itchy cocktease.

He canned EDIETS because it was leaked (and probably didn't work out great), I highly doubt it was finished. Also, he'd need Interscope's say so to do that.

the pre-with teeth 2004 web site was cool, and super simple. I miss that design.

When you say it was leaked do you mean just the still images or is the whole thing out there somewhere? Wish someone would leak the Everything video

It's been missing for a long time, I was sending it to people when nin.com's forums were starting up.
