A few days ago at my agency's summer camp I played some DEP for one of the kids we work with. I fully expected him to hate it and ask me to turn it off, but his reaction was perfect and hilarious: "It's interesting, but it's really confusing."

ADMINS/MODS -- is there any chance that we can rename the Black Queen thread "Greg Puciato (solo) & The Black Queen" ? Since Dillinger is done and TBQ and GP solo are closer together. I originally threw it out there about combining all 3 including DEP but folks felt that was a disservice to the other members of DEP. Which I get. But just hate having the solo stuff spread across two different threads

Ben posted the following on IG, read the caption "I do not believe in censorship but there are always consequences and if anything, 20 years of creating and performing Dillinger Escape Plan music has taught me that we are often defined by what we do not do. What we do not accept or want to be associated with." and "There were many decisions I made, sometimes in protest to the other band members, for these reasons. Including ending the band when we did. " I wonder what happened between him and Greg?

Didn't they describe their relationship as toxic and codependent. I'm pretty sure Greg has said that the title track of One of Us is the Killer and most of Dissociation is about the relationship between him and Ben.
But Ben is implying that wanting to distance himself from bigotry is what made him decide to put an end to Dillinger. With the phrasing he used it doesn't have to be the bigotry of any of the band members. Maybe he wasn't comfortable with a particular type of crowd that they were attracting. Since much of the lyrics is venting anger about close relationships, it wouldn't surprise me if the songs would resonate with misogynists for instance.

I just uploaded a video of DEP's first song at a tiny little club in Boston from 6 years ago. Not sure why I never uploaded this before. That was a wild show. I miss this band.
