I watched some videos of his big band stuff from the 90's, and yeah, maybe my GOAT for drummers.

"Abacab" was one of the not many "western" albums we had at home, not sure which colour version now (yellow, blue?), but I loved the most "Keep it dark". :-) Also there was zero chance to see a video, so this is all new to me:

We just scored two tickets for November 16th at the United Center.

    We are beyond psyched.

^ Yeah, I saw that when they first posted it back in January. Glad to see they're pushing ahead with the tour, will definitely try to get to the Toronto show!

Damn, it’s sad to see Phil Collins looking like this:

Sad to see because he's always been a spunky sort of guy. Let him get out there and garner some adulation one last time, I say. He deserves it.

Yeah that is sad. Absolute fucking legends. I will always be partial to the Peter Gabriel years and that lineup with Steve Hackett, but all of it is really good. I opened up to the 80's albums as I got older.

Tonight was the last date of the tour. According to setlist.fm, Peter Gabriel was in attendance. It’s all been announced that it was their final show.

We ended up NOT going to see Genesis, junked the tix, because we didn’t want to watch Phil straining to sing whilst sitting in a conference room chair all night. Had we known this in advance, we wouldn’t have bought tix.

Now we have tix to see Steve Hackett and band perform “Seconds Out” in its entirety in May.

So at least I’ll get “Squonk.”

And “Dance on a Volcano / Los Endos”

Just heard this for the first time. I’m utterly lost for words at how brilliant this is.

Been on a Genesis kick lately. Never really thought I'd like them, seemed like dork-rock, but I was sure wrong. I have Duke on now, just fantastic stuff.

I have been on a Genesis kick this summer. I know it's an uncool opinion, but I kind of like the straight-up pop songs from the Collins-era the best.

I always have been enjoying Gabriel's solo work. III or the "melting" album is my favorite.

Duke though Invisible Touch is my favorite era.

The Archive albums are available on streaming services in North America. Between them there is a load of incredible live material, the first featuring the classics from the Gabriel albums Selling England by the Pound and a (mostly) complete rendition of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (featuring new vocals from Peter, recorded in 1994. Steve Hackett re-did some of his playing too). The 2nd has a lot of their b-sides from the Phil era and live takes of deeper cuts from those albums. I still have my copies of this on cd but it’s been nice catching up to these again.
