After I saw the video and heard that Taylor Swift song Shake it, I thought that was the worst song of the year but Nicki Minaj takes the cake. That is terrible especially since Sir Mix A lot is from here and I kinda like him.

I heard some of that this morning on my rock radio station and oh God, it is even worse than Taylor Swift. I don't think I wanna see the video. The DJs were bashing that song and were laughing about it. It's horrendous.

What's with the trend of generic butt shaking in mainstream music videos now?

I don't know and I'm fucking tired of it. It's just not sexy to watch anymore.

Great, more of these hacks in our faces again, but as long as they got their namesake thread here on ETS we're good.

the actual essay is fantastic, and after watching the video for the first time, it's very poignant.

Sweet Mormon Jesus, I didn't realize Mark Romanek directed that Taylor Swift video. Closer, Hurt (JC version), and Shake it off.

and it shows! it's a great video, although muted for his style.

I thought it was bland. Not as moving as Closer or Hurt. I have seen a few of his other ones. Didn't realize it was him though. Have to revisit them.

well, yeah, it's not like those videos because it's taylor swift, but it's more than effective and really well done.

it's like his other videos in that nearly every moment could produce a seriously gorgeous still shot.

The VMAs are on tonight. 'Twas only a year ago that QOTSA and NIN got fucked over due to time restraints.

I looked at the performing artist list for this year: big surprise, it's crap.

Yeah, actually it was. It's so irrelevant and bleeds together I got them confused. Not hard to do, right?

Either way. Crap is on the program.

I'll give the Grammys a little more respect than the VMAs. At least with the Grammys, the technical awards (engineering, production, etc) are worth something, and are real currency in the industry.

The VMAs are a massive joke.

They gave Smiley Virus the Video of the Year award? What a fucking joke. Especially to a channel that doesn't even play music videos.
