Yeah, the video clearly shows the kid throwing the gun behind the fence and putting his hands up, unarmed.

News is now saying the kid was in special education. He was missing for several days and in the morgue because the CPD couldn’t identify him. Very sad.

The CPD lied, and the Prosecutor’s office vouched for the CPD. Now the shit’s hit the fan.

    B. That same senior officer, that also happens to be union prez, purposely yells "taser' knowing full well she has her gun but does so, on camera, for plausible deniability.

I'll admit B is a steaming hot take bordering on conspiracy theory but I really REALLY think A is some impossible shit.

I mentioned this to a co-worker, and she offered a good theory on how Potter could brainfart and use her gun when she intended to use her taser:

Looking at Potter, she's in her late 40s-early 50s, which is when menopause hits. One of the effects of menopause can be forgetfulness, and not the "why did I come into this room again?" kind. Consciously she may have intended for the taser but it was also so ingrained into her to reach for her pistol that she got the pistol instead of the taser. The fact that she was training someone may have also tripped her up mentally. This could also explain why she seems pretty shocked that she shot him instead of tasing him.

I think that second-degree manslaughter charges are the right call. I also think that AG Ellison's office should handle this case.

I think it's a good sign given the quality of the prosecution's case and witness testimony. But I'm not putting money on anything either.

I would love to be optimistic and think the case matters. But I'm also way too familiar with the conviction rates of cops, even when there is clear, undisputed documentation of the encounter.

I'm obviously no courtroom expert, but Chauvin's attorney seemed fucking terrible.

It's been a nail-biting hour. I hope they made the right decision...
Also, this was really close to how long the jury in the Mohamed Noor case deliberated (11 hours).

    He’s a pretty heavy-hitter attorney.

    But he has no defense.

All I saw was a lawyer running up hourly fees. He should have advised his client to settle a plea. But a plea doesn’t get hourly fees from a trial full of shitty defenses.

I was screaming at my television.

The elephant in the room here is that Trump's was worse.

    Trump’s what?

    Edit: oh ATTORNEY.

This attorney isn’t a bad attorney. He just has no case.

The jury asking no questions and/or for clarification on anything does provide me with the smallest sliver of hope.

    Anxiety is high af though.

That asshole looks like he wants to kill all the jurors.

He’s staring at them like ... omg.

There is NO doubt this guy is a sociopath.

Wow, I have to say I'm surprised (but very relieved) they found him guilty on all three counts. I thought they might have a split verdict and find him not guilty of 2nd degree murder.

I'm just so relieved that we don't have to worry about riots breaking out in Minneapolis again tonight. I was SO anxious and nervous about that. Instead, people are celebrating. This reminds me of the day they called the election for Biden (Nov. 7). People are celebrating, crying, and cheering in the streets here.

Have a great time in prison motherfucker. I wonder if the irony will dawn in the fading light of his eyes as his final words are "I can't breathe."
