Jury begins to decide on verdict now for Kim Potter trial. Hopefully with the holidays coming up, it won't rush them to make a decision.
They also said, in order to prepare for the outcome of the verdict, the schools have started their Christmas holiday closure starting today.

Kim Potter "trial outcome" to be announced soon. I haven't really been following this trial but I can't really understand how a veteran training officer could mistake her gun for a taser. The term "trial outcome" seems...curious.

Minneapolis Police kill a man while serving a no-knock warrant
Amir Locke was a Doordash driver who had no criminal record and legally owned a handgun for personal protection due to his job. He was sleeping at a friend's apartment when a SWAT team came in and shot him before he could fully comprehend what was happening.
Minneapolis was supposed to have a ban on no-knock warrants but MPD has served dozens in the last 2 years. In this case, it was a search warrant requested by the St. Paul Police Department (SPPD), which has not done no-knock warrants in 5 years. SPPD did not want this one to be a no-knock but MPD got a judge to approve one for this case.
The bodycam footage shows Amir asleep on the couch under a blanket. He wakes up after a cop kicks the couch and reacts as one would expect in this situation: he reaches for his gun but has it aimed away and his finger is not on the trigger. The cops get trigger-happy and open fire. Even gun-rights advocates are in shock about this because here was someone doing exactly what he should do if he feels he is in danger. Likewise, he had no time to process what happened before being shot.
Not only does the officer who shot him need to be held accountable, but so too should the MPD officials who sought the no-knock warrant and the judge who signed off on it.
(In my opinion, the only times a no-knock warrant should be approved is if someone's life is in imminent danger.)
