I want to remind everyone of how MPD initially framed this murder.

Social media, organizing, and protesting fucking matter. Don't let them tell you anything different.

The first federal report acknowledging nationwide police misconduct was released nearly 100 years ago. We've been throwing different not-evidence-based "reforms" at it since then and precisely zero of them have worked. A system built upon and meant to uphold white supremacy cannot be reformed, it must be dismantled.

Do not let the organizing efforts go to waste, and please stay involved.

Word is Tucker Carlson is on Fox saying the jury only handed down this verdict to protect their houses from being burned down.

    He’s such a racist asshole.

Chauvin wrote Nelson's number on his hand before he was escorted out.

What do you mean by this? This seems like a pretty common sense thing for someone to do if they know there is a chance that they will be detained.

Why would he need to write it on his hand? I would think Nelson would try to reach out to him regardless?

Kyle showed up to a protest armed with an arsenal, attempting to antagonize protesters, and then killed people. So, yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah, he did something wrong. Congratulations on losing your job over your shitty tweet.

I don't know if he's been discussed here but Patrick Skinner has a very very fucking good perspective as a local cop and he's doing good things in his Savannah, GA department.

He’s written other articles about true community policing and he seems to have buy-in within the department. Refers to members of his community as ‘neighbors’ and not civilians or other pejorative. Makes care packages and hands them out from his cruiser to those struggling. Former CIA. Fascinating dude and we need more of him if reform has any chance.

Looping back to Ma’Khia Bryant. In the video she appears to be lunging towards a person holding her dog. The shooting. Justified vs Un justified?

She literally called the cops for assistance because someone was assaulting her. It's always suuuuuuper interesting to see who is granted the narrative of self-defense (Kyle) and who isn't. Particularly because by all documented accounts, she was acting in self-defense. Too bad she didn't have an AR-15 instead of a knife.

    Fuckin' a.

"Derek Chauvin Seeks New Trial in George Floyd Case" - https://www.cbsnews.com/news/derek-c...er-conviction/
"Juror's Participation in D.C. March Could Help Appeal" - https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2021/...l-experts-say/

I really hope this doesn't go through because the defense had their time to interview the jurors before the trial even started, but I honestly wished that all the jurors had continued to stay anonymous after the trial because since this case is so huge, the defense is going to try any way it can to save Chauvin.

The Defense will do everything it can to keep Chauvin out of prison, but that doesn't mean they have a snowball's chance in Hell of being successful.

The Defense interviewed this juror and it appears that this juror was fully forthright. The D.C. march he attended was to commemorate MLK's "Dream" speech and to protest police brutality against black people, in general.

    Here's the issue:

Before being selected, Mitchell filled out this questionnaire. On it, he said he never attended protests over police brutality in Minnesota or beyond. He also answered a question on Black Lives Matter, saying, “Black lives just want to be treated as equals and not killed or treated in an aggressive manner simply because they are Black.”
While the protest was, technically, about police brutality, HE considered it to be commemorative of MLK's Dream speech, which it technically was. Either way, the Defense could have looked at his above answer and dug deeper into it, or unilaterally kicked him off the jury, no questions asked.

Technically, this tack is just making Chauvin and his defense team appear MORE racist than they already appeared.

FWIW, the jury is NOT anonymous to the Defense.

Jury convicts Alabama officer of murder in 2018 shooting

    See also: https://www.usnews.com/news/best-sta...g-suicidal-man

So, a guy calls 911 saying he's suicidal. Dispatch sends someone out, a senior officer. That officer spends quite a bit of time talking to the suicidal man, who has a gun pointed at his own head. She (senior officer) talks with the suicidal man, trying to de-escalate the situation, trying to get him to change his mind.

In comes Officer Murderer, who spots a "situation," runs to his car, grabs a shotgun, runs into the house, screams "PUT YOUR FUCKING GUN DOWN" (and "SHOOT HIM" at the senior officer), then shoots the suicidal man in the face with the shotgun, within 11 seconds of entering the house.

All captured on body cam, plus the senior officer testified against him at trial.

An appeal bond was granted by the judge, set at $100,000.00. Wtf.

General Police Misconduct aka Murdering Black People

Honestly have these people never encountered even a mildly stressful situation? I don’t mean to sound some kind of way but god damn! To take such a mental leap seems absolutely absurd to me. Good on the other officer for testifying. Hopefully she doesn’t catch any shit for doing so.

Same, but the odds on that are so very low.

especially since the longer it drags out the fewer jurors you'll have to pick from. IANAL (lol) but if they're found guilty / not-guilty in the first trial won't that have the potential to color the jury pool for the second?
