The Defense will do everything it can to keep Chauvin out of prison, but that doesn't mean they have a snowball's chance in Hell of being successful.
The Defense interviewed this juror and it appears that this juror was fully forthright. The D.C. march he attended was to commemorate MLK's "Dream" speech and to protest police brutality against black people, in general.
Here's the issue:
While the protest was, technically, about police brutality, HE considered it to be commemorative of MLK's Dream speech, which it technically was. Either way, the Defense could have looked at his above answer and dug deeper into it, or unilaterally kicked him off the jury, no questions asked. Before being selected, Mitchell filled out this questionnaire. On it, he said he never attended protests over police brutality in Minnesota or beyond. He also answered a question on Black Lives Matter, saying, “Black lives just want to be treated as equals and not killed or treated in an aggressive manner simply because they are Black.”
Technically, this tack is just making Chauvin and his defense team appear MORE racist than they already appeared.
FWIW, the jury is NOT anonymous to the Defense.
