Alright that's good then. I was getting nervous because I don't have enough saved up just yet to be able to go wild during it. Another month should help.

So is Fincher remaking House of Cards?

The original with Ian Richardson is excellent BUT HE COULD IMPROVE ON THE SEQUELS.

What's the best way to take advantage of the Barnes and Noble sale and get the best price? Get a free B&N membership and buy in stores? Any good coupon codes for buying online? What will everyone be buying this round?

I'm trying to get the best deal so I can get a bunch of them:

    Being John Malcovich
    Shallow Grave
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
    Chungking Express
    Mystery Train
    Down by Law
    Samurai Trilogy
David Lean Directs Noel Coward Boxset

I got Harold and Maude, The Naked Kiss, La Belle et la Bete, Salo all on blu ray.

I used a 15% off one item voucher - the code is Y4A7P7U.

I'd already picked up a few for around 50% on the recent Amazon sale.

Thanks for mentioning the code. I used it and saved 15% on David Lean Directs Noel Coward Boxset. Unfortunately I made a free trial membership last year to get the 10% during the Criterion sale so now I can't take advantage of that one, or the membership coupons that are out now ($8 off $40).

The Night Porter UK blu pre order is extremely cheap at the moment if anyone is interested.

I did another big order with six of the vonSternberg/Dietrich films from the UK and they didn't charge me any extra postage for including the pre order!

Totes spent too much on movies this month. Also on the way are the French Querelle blu, Barbarella blu, the two Jarman blu shipping later this month and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes blu.

I picked up Being John Malkovich, Shallow Grave, and Gold Rush. The booklet inside of Malkovich is hilarious.

Oh the barnes and noble criterion sale... ever the financial obstacle...
I splurged pretty hard on this one:
First i picked up a bunch of familiar material:
    12 Angry Men
    If
    Walkabout
    Colors trilogy
    Seventh seal

And then i went for some leap of faith stuff. Gaps in my education
    Belle de Jour
The Last Temptation of the Christ
    39 Steps
    Monterey Pop

You know, i work literally one block from where Monterey Pop took place, amd ive done lots of stuff for local museums and instituions about. And somehow i havent seen it before. FOR SHAME.

David Lean Directs Noel Coward $42.49 (15% off online coupon)
    Being John Malcovich $9.99
    Down By Law $9.99
    Mystery Train $9.99
    The 39 Steps $9.99
    The Lady Vanishes $17.99
    Chungking Express $17.99
    Samurai Trilogy $24.96

Was denied use of multiple coupons first time I went when I bought three at once, but after that I found the other 8/40 coupon and got two at a time. I was only shot down completely once when the cashier couldn't enter the coupon in correctly and called the manager. "Whoever let you use the coupon before probably shouldn't have allowed it." The same day after getting denied I went to another Barnes & Noble and used them with no problem. I was going to wait to buy Samurai Trilogy until I got my $10 EBATES giftcard but I was worried it may not come in time, plus I've been getting such good deals I figured I wouldn't be so cheap for once.

I think I'm done with the sale for now as I am getting tired of having to explain the coupon to the cashiers and worrying about being denied. I am missing out on a couple other titles I wanted to get (Fear and Loathing, Tiny Furniture) and I'm going to marathon a few other titles (Cronos, Gomorrah, Kuroneko, Revanche, Wages of Fear, The Great Dictator, Shallow Grave, Carlos), as I hate blind-buying, on streaming services like HULU or NETFLIX INSTANT so maybe I will be back before the 31st, but I feel pretty happy with the purchases I made this time around.

Let's see if I can hold off buying The Royal Tenenbaums, The Game, Umberto D, In the Mood for Love, and Rosemary's Baby before the next sale but it will be tough.

I said I'd try to hold out at just five. I've already gotten three, and will most likely get three more. Choosing is so hard

I'll more then likely get one of theses.

In the Realm of the Senses
    Che
    Monterey Pop
    The Times of Harvey Milk
    Being John Malkovich
    Kes
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
    À nos amours
    Fanny and Alexander Box Set
    Shallow Grave
    M
    Down by Law
    Tiny Furniture

I've put off getting My Life as a Dog for a while now, so that's an automatic buy. Any recommendations?

Of the 26 films I own 16 were blind buys. None of them so far have been disappointments. I think I automatically see that a film is in the collection and think it must be quality. I got to see The Four Feathers eailer this week, I would have never even really paid attention to it if it wasn't in the collection, (which is a sad reality) but I really enjoyed it. There are a few shit films in there too, (A few Michael Bay films) I saw Equinox three months ago. So bad it's good.

You both list Tiny Furniture on your buy list... Have you been watching GIRLS on HBO?

I did a week marathon where I watched all of GIRLS and then Tiny Furniture. It's a good movie by itself but I think it may be much better in perspective of Lena Dunham's overall work to date.

It just kind of irks me that Eclipse 37 is DVD only, otherwise it looks awesome. And Rashomon is certainly overdue.
