Terry Gilliam confirmed at DragonCon that after his appearance there he was finishing up on a new transfer of The Fisher King, presumably for Criterion to release.

*SCREAMS IN JOY!!!!*
FINALLY!!!!!! Safe!!!!! Gracias Criterion!!!! Time Bandits and The Night Porter.... FUCK YEAH!!! I want Safe to be my X-mas present!!!!!
If, for some reason, you don't want to buy the deluxe set, A Hard Day's Night came out today on standard dvd.
I think it's because they are starting to put out individual Blu and DVD versions of the titles that they had as dual releases.
Been collecting Laserdiscs over the past couple months; I finally have every home video version/edition of Seven Samurai released by Criterion Collection. Been looking for 2001, but all of the copies I've found are either "overpriced", in terrible condition, or the listing is too ambiguous for me to feel safe purchasing.
Anyone else out there have a CC Laserdisc collection?
Beware of red raincoats.
Ah, the film where Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland supposedly had actual sex instead of acting it out.
Urban legend withstanding, it's a great psychological thriller.
Got Quadrophenia. Contemplating buying another copy next month because I think it might go OOP sometime within the next year or so, because the company responsible for distributing it to Criterion was bought out by another company.
I believe that deal only applies to streaming rights, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.
Can't wait for next month's B&N sale, as I'll be finally able to upgrade my copies of Rushmore and Traffic. I'm a dunce when it comes to the finer details of video transfers and such, but I'm always amazed at how much better their Blu-rays look.
Snagged:
The Game
Bottle Rocket

The ones I want are The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant and My Winnipeg. Those are some great films.
They didn't mention it by name but said they had gotten another WB title from Malick, and the simple power of deduction leads to that it's that one.
I was hyperventilating yesterday.
Also during the stream they mentioned.
- Edward Yang's A Brighter Summer Day is in the works. All of the supplements are gathered, but the film is still being restored.
- The Apu Trilogy should be out next year.
- More Kieślowski, but probably not The Decalogue.
- The Soft Skin should be out in the first half of next year.
- More Pasolini.
- More Victor Erice. A Spirit of The Beehive blu should be coming. I'm unsure if that is a reference to that or some of his other films.
- More David Lynch. It's known that Criterion has their hands on Mulholland Drive.
- The Koker Trilogy might not be out next year.
WB also owns the rights to most of Kubrick and Scorsese, and also some of the remaining non-criterion Kurosawa films....
Yeah, I have them set to record. I've already seen Spirit of the Beehive as my mom hadn't seen it in a long time. I hope the release of El Sur sets the stage for the release of his shorts and the other film that he did in 1992. He is considered the Spanish version of Terrence Malick in terms of making films infrequently and with great beauty.
