you guys really need to get an Alamo Drafthouse near you if your main concern at the theater is the potential of other assholes ruining the movie. The Alamo Drafthouse chain of theaters play a good mix of big mainstream movies & smaller indie movies. They def. cater to lovers of cinema too, as they frequently have screenings of older movies, theme nights, etc.
The big thing though is this: they don't tolerate ANYONE ruining a movie. If anyone is talking, texting, etc. you can write a complaint on a card and the usher will give the person one warning, then they're tossed out. I've seen it happen. They also make it VERY clear before the movie starts that these are the ground rules. And it's a dine-in type of theater, so the staff are constantly buzzing around during the movies so it won't take long to get something handled. They are also 18+ and you aren't allowed to arrive late to a screening. Because of all this, it's rare that you even get anyone going there who is gonna do dumb shit. It's the only way I will go to the movies now.
