Silence Of The Lambs has that tension and suspense though. Perfectly paced. Has a good underlined creepiness to it all as well.

I'm curious, though: did you read the book? It's a creepy scary fucking book. It ain't pretty by any means.

^THIS, Yet, Cox appears far less than Hopkins in the movie (just like it's supposed to be according to the book...), i also think that William Petersen's acting is worth mentioning, i like Eddy Norton and all but to me William does a better Will Graham... (oddly i'm a bigger fan of Norton as an actor but William is more aggressive in this role...)

On topic: Tomorrow i'm watching; "The Shinning", Spongebob's new movie is the one to blame, lol...

I have, but it's been a while to a point where I forget everything. I'm the type of person who prefers it when directors give their own spin to an adaptation, rather than carbon copy the book. Like, I LOVE Stanley Kubrick's version of The Shining. If I wanted to experience the original version, I'd just read the book.

I was talking VISUALLY. The film is great, it's just cinematography wise, it isn't that special to me.

I just saw cannibal Holocaust for the first time and wow. I liked the movie but the scenes where the actual animals get killed really bothered me. The score blew me and away too, so I grabbed the vinyl today.Mondo is doing a limited vinyl release for the first time ever so get on it very soon if you want it.

Agreed, the movie is great, it¡s just the "animal bodycount" the one that bothers me...

That's what I loved about Cox as Lector. He was calm, intelligent and believable as a doctor you would go and see. Hopkins Lector was a bit 'trying to be creepy' at times. Both are great films anyway.

Is Exists better than Bigfoot: The Lost Coast Tapes?
I just realiazed that Exists is from Eduardo Sanchez. Will check it out. I really enjoy his movies. Seventh Moon and Lovely Molly were great. Altered wasn't terrible.

    **
Another POV I stumbled upon is Final Prayer. Trailer looks good. Added to watchlist.
I found a couple more obsucre titles Cassadaga and Skinwalker Ranch

i haven't seen Bigfoot: The Lost Coast Tapes, but there is ANOTHER found footage bigfoot movie called Willow Creek i think, and it was directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, believe it or not. It's pretty damn good, but i liked Exists better. It really reminded me of Blair Witch.

I haven't seen Seventh Moon or Altered, but i dug the shit out of Lovely Molly.

I'll check out Final Prayer and the other two also.

Sorry for double post, but La Casa De Fin De Los Tiempos has arrived on Netflix as The House at The End of Time!

If you are a fan of supernatural horror, you owe it to yourself to see this one.

Previously, it was a BIG pain it the ass to find and get working subs.

    Check it out everbody!

I was kinda letdown by Willow Creek. Didn't like it as much as The Lost Coast Tapes.
I got a copy of Exists and will be watching it soon.

Speaking about Creeks, I always had an inkling to watch Wolf Creek but never did. Worthy of a view?

Oh good god, Skinwalker Ranch was fucking DOPE.

it was one of those super good ones that didn't get a wide release for whatever reason.

I just finished watching Housebound and cannot recommend it enough. Great plot with lots of twists (try to find out as little as possible before going in) and a blend of horror and comedy that actually works. Apparently there's going to be a Hollywood remake, ugh.

So who's going to see this? Sounds like a cross between Flatliners and Carrie but it has potential. A bit.

Also watched it a few days ago, really loved it, along with all the (sometimes a bit hamfisted) metaphors.

    Recently I also watched
Oculus (good premise, but all over the place...after the 100th time they showed the "scary face" I didn't really find it scary anymore, nothing really lingered with me afterwards),
Absentia (a bit different, it had some good moments, very promising first half, relatable characters, but kinda goes downhill later...),
The Honeymoon (it was ok, I was spoiled before watching, so I can't really objectively judge it. It seemed like a good flick, nice development, just not really scary, I guess? Or maybe it is for people more into body-horror stuff.)

I love horror but it's so so hard to find something that's a little different, something that isn't just cliché after cliché, blood, guts or monsters.. I like genuine creepiness, goosebump raising dread, slow horrible realizations and something with actual characters. Open to suggestions.

The Honeymoon was creepy, in a slow building way. Somehow I thought it was a fitting metaphor about entering a committed relationship, and discovering you knew way less about your SO than you thought. It felt more like a paranormal drama than anything else, but I have nothing against it.
Oculus was fun, in a cliché done right way ? I mean, it's definitely not original, but I liked it, I thought it was well done.
The Babadook was indeed a tad hamfisted, but then again I liked the dark fairy tale mood it had.

None of those were really original in any way, but they were nice riff on well-known tunes, in my opinion.

I saw Mr Jones, which despite its found footage premise had an interesting and intriguing start, which I felt led to nowhere. A shame, I really liked the theme... I like it when movies raise questions they don't really bother to answer, it usually means their point is elsewhere. I really like Under The Skin for this.

is it sick that i kinda want to see it again? skipping every awful animal death scene, of course.

i've never done so many internal "how in the fuck did they do that?" thoughts during a movie.

has anyone here seen 'salo'? it sounds repulsive and i'm curious. i know it's not typically known as a horror movie, but apparently it's horrifying in its sheer depravity.

    should i?

EDIT: nevermind. i read enough about it. it's some art film with overly cerebral themes, but now it just sounds like gross pretentious child porn to me. i don't care that alec baldwin has stood up for it's so-called merit.

    check, please.

Just watched Wolf Creek and that's typically the kind of movie I hate. Not that it's bad, not that I would know... I can't stand it when horror becomes too probable, and I fucking loathe when they play the sexual assault card. I had fun with The Hills Have Eyes until the rape scene, and then I Nope'd the hell out of it. Well, same here.
