This looks terrible and in all the best ways.

they had me up to the 'trying to be a good person'
I know most of the TCM sequels/remakes have their fans, but I can't think of a single one I've enjoyed. They absolutely nailed it with the original, and it's been a case of diminishing returns ever since.
I can only think of ONE man who could properly helm a Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot, and his name starts with an R, and ends with an E.
And, in between is OB ZOMBI.
Good GOD, I hope he gets to do something in that arena at SOME point.
just finished watching the Xmas horror movie Better Watch Out on Amazon Prime. I was surprised. It's actually really engaging and clever, and "fun" in a really mean kind of way. Would recommend if you need a break from yuletide bullshit or if you just heard "last christmas" in the grocery store.
Been seeing people draw comparisons between this deleted scene and the bathroom scene in The Shining, I agree with them.

How did I miss this?
Because it wasn't heavily promoted I guess? I hadn't either. It happens.
I know it was coming and that Patrick Wilson would direct it but I did not know the trailer was out. It's supposed to take place after Insidious 2.
How is the lady still alive after her neck was broken at the end of part 1? And she’s specifically mentioning the red faced demon still haunting them?
According to Wikipedia (I know, so reliable) the movie is centered around a grown-up Dalton. And Elise is very much part of Insidious 2, as a ghost. At the very end, she enters a house and gasps at something she is seeing in a corner (never forget: corners are evil).
And this very trusty (or not) site has a plotline: https://www.heavenofhorror.com/movie...rk-realm-2021/
IMdb does too.
Ghost Elise is not going to like that, at all.
watching Hereditary again, and it's brilliant. Just one of the greatest things I've ever seen. I needed to watch Midsommar a few times before I got it, but now I get it, and this is pretty much genius.
Watched 3/4 of Orphan last night (watching the rest of it tonight). Didn’t realise Vera Farmiga acted in horror stuff as far back as 2009. Dang she’s pretty!

Mannnnnn, I don't know....
I have really mixed feelings about Scream. I think the first movie is a good film, on a whole. It's clever and self aware, and it's not over indulgent. In passing I've seen the sequel, and parts of the other ones, and I just don't see "the point." Even with the original, you had an incredible iconic opening sequence, and imo it was all downhill from there. It's also responsible for all these bullshit late-90s teen slasher movies that, as far as I can tell, were all terrible. Like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Urban Legend and a billion other really underwhelming movies.
Which is why it feels a little weird to be talking about Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the same thread page, because... the original is a masterpiece of horror cinema. I consider the original to be pretty much perfect, and the sequel is fun because it's just insane. It's not trying to be a true follow up... it's a weird carnival joke with tons of gore and silly shit.
But I do NOT get at all why anyone thinks there's a good reason to remake Texas Chainsaw. At all. Did they miss something the first time?
But for some reason, they just can't stop redoing it. It's not like the initial story concept was what made it special at all in any way. You could repackage the basic elements and do something new.
Enough of these reboots.
I have zero desire to watch that.
