It looks like that's just the excerpts from the "Book Of 2D" thing they're doing. About a month ago, they started off with posting a bunch of clips from their videos, songs, live shows, and whatnot. Old pictures and magazine covers and the like. Then they did "The Book of Noodle" which told a little story about Noodle's goings-on after Plastic Beach. Then they did Russell, then Murdoc, and now 2D. The 'music' in the videos you're talking about is just generic background noise, as far as I know. Unless there's a specific Instagram post you're referring to that has actual Gorillaz music in it.
But since they've been revving up the Gorillaz social media machine the past month, I expect a new single to drop very soon. Noodle's official Instagram account posted an image last week of the logo of a Beats 1 radio show 'Soulection' which made people assume that the single would drop when the show aired on the 22nd, but that obviously didn't happen. But I believe it airs again tomorrow, so maybe we'll get it then.
I am very ready.
It seems like the media train is sparking hype for a near future release.
I expect a single to drop some time within the next two months that leads to the new album proper next year.

This gets me so excited! Benjamin Clementine had my favorite album of 2015. It's good to see him getting to work with Gorillaz too.
I don't like that song at all, and that video looks like it was thrown together at the last second.
I liked it a lot to be honest. I like the different sound.
Sounds pretty awful. Does that guy think he's some sort of modern day Nat King Cole or something? Jeez.
Ugh... seriously, what in the fuck with this. I thought it was a joke when it started, but it never broke out. Pass.
That was ... generally terrible. Just never comes together or goes anywhere. I've seen defense of it as "It's supposed to feel uncomofrtable! It's the message!" but there's plenty of unsettling but wonderful music and it isn't an excuse. Not at all what I think of when I think of why I used to be really into this band.
I'm hoping the album isn't like this, because Jesus Christ, I'll probably never hear it a second time if that's the case.
The press release for the song seems to imply that this is a non-album single.
As for the track itself...I dunno - it sounds like two completely different songs melded into one. Clementine's vocals and the rest of the music never seem to mesh. A composition similar to "Cloud of Unknowing" would have blended much better with the vocals. Maybe the juxtaposition was intentional, maybe Albarn suddenly became tone-deaf.
The song has been growing on me. I dig it.
that voice is incredible <3
i dunno. "on melancholy hill" was good enough to carry the whole record.
You're no troll! I remember when there was a little backlash within the fan base when Plastic Beach came out, and it really took me awhile to get into it. It eventually grew on me hard, and there were moments when I felt like I was actually listening to that album on a beach. Plus, it has Little Dragon on it . What was it that you didn't like?
Plastic Beach is amazing.
I don't think much tops Demon Days for me. Had a few lovely experiences with that album and it really reminds me of long summer days etc... plus its still really good, which helps. Plastic Beach was great too, but felt a bit overstuffed in places.
I like Demon Days and Plastic Beach, but nothing beats their debut album for me.
I think the debut album sounds terribly dated.
Plastic Beach is perfect, need more of that stuff.
The Fall is boring.
/my 2 cents
All the albums are good and have their specific benefits, but Demon Days is one of the best albums of all time.
My absolute favorite album is Demon Days. I still love their debut album and I still listen to Plastic Beach every once in a while but I can't stand Laika Come Home.
I'm surprised to see no love for D and G sides, some of Damon's best work is on those albums.
D Sides is great, I guess I consider them more like b-sides collections of leftover material where as the rest are official albums. Stop The Dams in a beautiful track.
I really wanted C-Sides but it's a shame that never actually came to fruition.
The Fall is pretty good also.
I don't know why everyone hates Hallelujah Money so much. I love the song already.

For me:
Demon Days
Plastic Beach
The Fall
D-Sides
Gorillaz
G-Sides
Apparently something is happening! Demos and actual songs are being reported. This would be absolutely crazy.
