    Underworld

I first discovered these guys back in 95/96 thanks to MTV AMP and The Saint Soundtrack; they've been in my top 5 ever since!

Sure they're known for all those great club hits from the 90's but it's the stuff that they've been doing since leaving their record label that's really kept me interested

Underworld is approaching their 20th anniversary and are celebrating with 2 new collections, available digitally (as of today) and for pre-order on CD (released in January 2012).

    20 Years, 2 Compilations

Underworld are definitely within the ever expanding pool of bands I'd list as being my absolute favourite. The tracklist on '92-12 looks almost identical to the '92-02 compilation (which is an excellent collection of tracks BTW), with the obvious addition of the singles from the past 2 albums. Disc 3 looks like it'll be great though - a couple of those tracks are missing from my collection. I would have scrapped "Big Mouth" in favour of "Dirty" for the first disc though.

Dubnobass... is far and away my favourite UW release, but A Hundred Days Off and their non-album tracks from the past decade ("JAL to Tokyo", "Peggy Sussed", "020202") are excellent too.

I think, like many people, my first exposure to Underworld was from Trainspotting. Trent made a comment about Pearls Girl at one point, so I started to look more into them and have been steadily listening to more and more. Thinking about getting the new anthology.

Karl Hyde to release solo album in April

"In a press release, Hyde described the themes behind his solo debut: “The beauty of decay, tyre marks, crude graffiti, industrial noise, overheard conversations, epidemics of coffee bars and nights on the back seat being driven through cities by drivers who never sleep. A celebration of people’s idiosyncrasies, mapping out my journeys with the stories they tell, edgelands where city meets scrub, where ragged ponies grazed annexed fields and the air smells chemical.”

Dubnobass... brings back very happy memories for me. Great album. Not really paid much attention to them since then.

    Underworld

The new track from Karl is great. Got the free download track.

Always need a fan since Dub no. Was glad to see them live once in DC.

"Cut Clouds" has a great vibe about it. Hope the rest of the album is similarly atmospheric.

Second Toughest In The Infants is getting the 20th anniversary Super Deluxe treatment as well!

I wonder if that version of "Confusion The Waitress" on disc 3 is similar to the early, more dancey version(s) they played live.

I own the Japan edition of the Dubnobasswithmyheadman super deluxe boxset for only $66 with shipping
    It's quite beautiful
Comes with a bonus 6th disc and pressed on SHM-CD
I'll be picking up Second Toughest super deluxe from Japan as well.

There doesn't appear to be a bonus disc, but it's on SHM-CD once again.

Yeah, sadly no bonus disc for Second Toughest like they did with Dubnobasswithmyheadman.
But I'm still going for the Japan edition either way, especially for the SHM-CDs.
Also, with the last reissue, each CD housed in its little protective sleeve before being slid into the CD holder.
The back was a soft white material to protect it from being scratched and front was clear plastic so you can still see the CD while it's placed in the holder.
When it comes to music, they really take care of their product and protect it over in Japan.
Any Japanese CD I got that doesn't come in a jewel case usually has a protective sleeve for the CD.
You don't really see that anywhere else.
Another reason I'll stick with the Japan edition even without bonus material.
They went another level of protection with Dubnobasswithmyheadman to keep the CD from being scratched while sliding it in and out from the holder with those soft backing protective sleeves.

One of my favourite bands ever. A lot of their material still sounds very intense, mind blowing, deeply druggy, innovative, exhillarating, and ahead of its time, they were fucking huge in mid 90s in UK, but I been rediscovering the album A Hundred Days off from 2002 recently ...it was not as big as their 90s stuff, it did well, but its my favourite records of theirs at the moment, the title track and Dinosaur Adventure 3D still sound so awesome..

Forgive me if this is already common knowledge (I haven't been to the dirty forums in a while):

Is this the mix (more or less) from the Blue Mountain Jam? I noticed that "Please Help Me" follows this.

Could be, I know most folks there were begging for Blue Mountain material.
