Well at least something appears to have gone right, Boris is managing to fuck up things for his party quicker then May did...that's impressive!

I'm wondering when the EU is going to get fed up of extending the deadline. Asking for another three months just seems to be kicking the can down the road, again.

I think they are just hoping we end up not doing it so they keep given us extra time to come to that conclusion...only problem is most of our elected officials are the fucking worst!

At least people were wise enough to avoid the 'elephant trap' of granting a snap election. I'm thoroughly convinced B. Johnson would have said sure, Oct. 15th, and then moved the date to after Oct 31st after Parliament had agreed, just to ramrod a no-deal Brexit. He's a snake, and willing to burn the house down just to be PM.

    Russia's in Europe, right?

Seems pretty well thought out, but I'm not steeped in the info to know better or worse. Thoughts from those who pay closer attention to this?
Putin is hanging on for dear life but do NOT underestimate him. He maintains power at the moment because a) he has destroyed ALL possible rivals (simply- there is no one to follow him which is actually really REALLY bad as you do not want to imagine what would happen if he suddenly died; it would be way worse than now) and b) the factions behind him are busy at war with one another for cash/power.
this is what I've thought for a little while now.

And the supreme court in the UK finds that Johnson lied to the queen to suspend Parliament...his rein as PM has been nothing short of a car crash and it's only been 2 months?! Fucking hell.

This is more a vent but i had to spend the weekend with my family and...it was uncomfortable when politics came up (quick primer, this is the same family that refused to celebrate my birthday one year because i voted remain...yeah) This weekend can be summed up by my family, rather gleefully, stating Johnson is the best PM since Thatcher...there's so much wrong with that statement i don't even know where to start!

...christmas is going to be fun

It's because the internet is shaping people's politics - before, it would be shaped by life experiences, tempered by conversations conducted face to face etc

But now people disappear into a miasma of echo chambers and agitprop, and become convinced that the entire left/right is characterised by the loud extremists at the fringes, and that all the serious problems are down to them.

It's a mess, but it will right itself eventually. It's bad for business!

yeah it's the same old, on the right you have fatass boomers with early dementia, weird dateless nerds and dumbass lumpen left behinds fillying with far right politics to feel big and tough, on the left you have clueless pencil necked university/internet people driving around in a pink bus calling everyone fascist for not prefacing words like "stupid" with a trigger warning.

Neither come anywhere close to the ideals of traditional upright conservative or compassionate progressive liberal that they imagine they do, they're just the two ends of the asshole horseshoe, and being ignorant and annoying is the hammer that forges it

And people may say, yes but the while the left is irritating, they aren't actually murdering people and subverting governments by doing so - but they are, they enabled their enemies by making themselves so unpalatable

does anyone else not wish Angela Merkel would fuck off, she is just depressing now, she has no power she is plodding along its sad, she has been in power since 2005! 14 years, that is like a dictators reign, almost as long as Putin.

i know Germany likes stability but its not stable, and she is old news. holding everything back, Germany needs to learn how to adapt, three leaders since 1982 is not healthy.

Well, compared to the England Germany sure looks healthy. I for one feel like the world could use more calm women in power as opposed to clowns like Johnson, Erdogan, Trump, Putin etc

It's depressing we're at a stage now where we're looking at other country's that have issues and think "well at least they aren't as bad as our shitshow".

I hate to think what some other country's are getting away with when all the attention is on the clusterfucks in charge here and the US!

This election is a fucking game changer. Two-party system is gone, solid left wing showing, absolutely NO IDEA who will make up the government. Interesting times.

I’m betting on Fianna Fáil backing down and going in with Sinn Fein and the Greens. Varadkar will probably get the leadership chop from Fine Gael in a couple of months. Sinn Fein are talking about a grand coalition of the left, but they definitely don’t have the numbers now. FF and FG coalition won’t happen now because of Sinn Féin’s success and the fact that it will basically set them up for electoral domination in the next one.

Also, I’m cackling at the narratives about this being a unity thing with NI. Erm, no. People were basically sick of the housing crisis and ineffectual healthcare and decided the place needed a change. It’s probably gonna have a knock-on effect though.

One year on, most voters say Brexit has gone badly | Brexit | The Guardian

No, you don't say. If only people were talking about how badly it would go back in 2016.

Truss is out after near single handedly tanking the UK economy within a month of her appointment as Prime Minister. Her outstanding unpopularity gave the Labour Party a huge bump, so I suppose that might be a sort of silver lining?

So a Dutch MP, and leader of a party he himself claims is further to the right than the Nazi Party, recently admitted in this interview with a fascist geopolitics podcast that he is a believer in the reptilian conspiracy. Meanwhile David Icke himself is scheduled to appear as a special guest at an antimask protest in Amsterdam two weeks from now. Coincidence? I think not.

As an aside: in that same interview he said that he strongly feels that christianity is a religion for losers.

David Icke has received a two-year ban from the EU Schengen countries.

In a response by his team on his website they affirm that Icke has the full support of the Dutch far-right while referring to the Netherlands' christian conservative liberal cabinet as fascist.

Not in Europe, but Israel is now in the hands of a far-right coalition.
