Earmarking this because I thought it'd be a good first post for the Biden 2021 thread. Coming January 1st.

    Whoops on Jan 1st.

Anyway, Merrick Garland is going to be his AG so that’s kind of a full circle situation.

I’d be happy for Rebecca Black to sing “Friday”. Just glad it’s happening.

Gaga and Joe have been friends for a while, and she's a huge Biden supporter.

Amanda Gorman is the U.S. Youth Poet Laureate.

Remember who the entertainment was for Trump's inaugural? A bunch of people nobody ever heard of, and Jackie Evancho sang the National Anthem?

Meanwhile, this was Obama's first inaugural:

I’m still stunned and excited about tomorrow.

We have bubbly and snacks ready. Cinnamon rolls and mimosas in the morning.

Omg we are going to have a woman VP (a black woman! an Indian woman!) OMG!!!

And Trump is going out in a flaming pile of crap.

I'm watching Rachel Maddow, and I feel like crying (so far, covering the COVID memorial and VP Harris reading letters from children).
I'm probably going to wake up tomorrow and take the stress CBD oil gummies until noon. I think work will be blocked out for most of the day.

I actually have my weekly review with a trainee at 10:30, and I'm not sure how the two of us will not be talking about this. She's a POC and was appalled at the Jan 6th attack compared to the BLM protests. I blocked out a full hour, just so we can emotionally data dump before tackling some work.

I'm just praying to all the gods it's over...

This Canadian is hoping that everything can go smooth tomorrow. I have a feeling I'll have to be a bit stoned to really let this sink in. Congratulations, all, let's look to the future!

Also, unlimited respect and pride for Ms. Harris. Just like Obama, this is a memorable moment.

I am over $120,000 in student debt, with more to come (two more semesters left) . One of my big dreams with this admin is to get not just $10,000 relief, but $50,000. As a teacher, I don't make much. I'd be able to live peacefully.

today is a historic day. I will be gladly watching (remotely) with my class.

Don't think I saw this on any of the other threads but New Radicals are reuniting after 22 years to perform at the inauguration today.

She was a very good speaker, I thought. I liked her a lot.

Anyway, do you think Trump will reveal his healthcare plan in the next two weeks?

    Interesting note, here:

Biden is the 2nd Catholic President in U.S. history.

    The first was JFK.

G and I were raised Catholic (so were all of our closest friends). Today is like: CATHOLICS, REPRESENT!!! Lol

Meanwhile, Amanda Gorman was BRILLIANT, omg.

How Kevin McCarthy and McConell can stand up there and hand out ceremonial gifts and shower praise upon Biden is beyond me.

Don't you just love the beautiful sound of silence, never having to listen to Trump give another speech again?
