    danebraddy has passed away

Not really a little thing. But I didn't know where else to put it.
About a week ago I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer and it appears to have spread.
I'm 27, no real family history of the disease and have two young kids.

I haven't really opened up to people I know about it (other than my partner and my parents) most of my extended family know, but I have made it clear I don't want to talk about it.

My partner is a saint and she is looking after me and organising my appointments and transport, but I find myself lashing out at her in bursts of frustration.
Not abuse levels, but I bite at the stupidest stuff and am almost picking fights.

On Monday I have a multi disciplinary meeting with surgeons, oncologists and other types of doctors I didn't know existed. We will 'discuss' my options.
One doctor said the phrase 'Life expectancy' which is never a phrase you want to hear when sick.

Thanks for listening/reading. It feels a little better to get it out.

Consider telling more people. You don't want pity, but you deserve support. Your partner probably wants some too. She can't do it all.

    Good luck <3

You NEED to start talking about it. You need to read about it as much as you can in order to ensure that you're receiving the best types of treatment. (And I'm not only talking about chemo. I'm talking about dietary and holistic treatments as well.) You need the support of family and friends in order to get you through the rough days that are coming up (because they will be there). When you meet with your doctors on Monday, ask if they have a patient counselor that both you and your partner can speak with. If they don't have one, consider joining an online support group. I can't stress enough how important it is to do these things.

My neighbor and good friend is going through almost the exact same situation as you are: he's 29, with stage four colon cancer that's spread to his liver. No history of it in his family and he has three kids all under the age of 7. Both he and his wife (who he also has been lashing out at) have found A LOT of comfort in both online support groups as well as a patient counselor. And all of us (friends and family) have rallied behind them. My friend IS going to beat cancer. And you will, too.

Keep us posted on how you're doing. I'm sending lots of good thoughts and well wishes your way.

Regretfully, I'm passing along information that @Miss Baphomette recently received from dane's wife:

I'm sorry but Dane passed away on the 26th of September, but I know this community meant a lot to him.

    Fuck cancer.

If I were to do a little deductive reasoning - he had an iOS device that has the Dumb Ways to Die app, and unbeknownst to whoever was using the iOS device earlier this year, that game had associated itself with the Twitter account on the device, and posted an unfortunate self-promotional tweet. In case you're still not sure.

So, a 27 year old dude finds out in mid-August that he has cancer, and is dead by the end of September.

    What the fuck, man?

    Shit man, his kids.

Can we do something? I didn't interact with him much but he was around a lot - a collector I take it? eBay some stuff? Something?

That's a great idea, actually. Anyone have any ideas? I am not good when it comes to this stuff.

I also came in here to say how shocked and saddened I was by the news. He was so young. My thoughts are definitely with his family.

Odd reading this...the timeline is quite how it went for my dad with his stage 4 colon cancer in 2011. My brain still represses so much from that 2 month- time period.

Terrible thread for me to stumble into.

    RIP
