We literally just rewatched of How I Met Your Mother, we've been marathoning it for the last few weeks. We finished watching the final episode, and then I looked at my phone and saw the news about Bob Saget... so sad, and also kinda eerie

I always picture the public bathroom scene from Dumb & Dumber when I think of that short.

Rachel Nagy, lead singer of The Detroit Cobras, quite possibly one of the best cover bands ever. Life, Love, and Leaving is an incredible album. RIP

We did receive that People Magazine; my wife somehow wound up with a free subscription in her endeavors to make money and earn rewards online (nobody reads it.)

THAT issue, though: I think it will make a lovely memento.

    Yeah we get People, too

This was a special Google Easter egg especially for Betty’s birthday. When you googled her name, rose petals rained down and a sign popped up that said “Thank You for Being a Friend”

Jesus christ. Meat Loaf and Louis Anderson, and all the other rapid fire losses in the past couple of years seem crazy.

I wonder if it's that a lot of us are reaching a certain age, and so, too, are the people we grew up listening to and watching.

yeah, it's going to start going faster because of age and the internet making this news available instantly.

Definitely. I was thinking of the people dying in their sixties. That's horrible and unusual, but it happens. As that generation gets closer to the average lifespan mark, it will speed up. :/

Nah, this always happens this way.

My Mom reads three newspapers every day and one of the FIRST sections she reads is the obits and death notices.

Her Mom, same thing. “Who DIED?” Not just celebrities, but people you know. People you don’t know at all.

I’ve had a “gut” feeling lately and googled people. Found out my former boss died, my co-worker’s husband died, one of my old friends died. They were all old, so this shit happens.

After we hit 50-55, every day is just luck. I saw funerals of little kids when I worked at that funeral home. Babies, too. Look at the death notice section of any newspaper, daily. Everyday people, with pictures, with stories. Gone. During the heights of Covid, the death notice section of the newspapers are HUGE!!! Many of us don’t recognize or want to recognize celebrities’ mortality, that’s all. But death is an all-ages show and unless Meat Loaf was gunned down by an assassin in his home, or Louis Anderson drowned in his pool, none of this is shocking.

Yes, all these old people are gonna die at about the same time. Look at the Oscars’ “In Memoriam” segment every year. (Some of them I thought were already dead.)

This is a kinda funny Twitter meme …

“OMG why is [insert name here] trending???”

Usually, if they’re old, it’s because they’re dead.

Paul McCartney was trending, everybody was like OMG PAUL MCCARTNEY DIED!? PLEASE TELL ME PAUL MCCARTNEY ISN’T DEAD.

(That in between “who the fuck is Paul McCartney?”)

(Honestly, my husband and I were talking, and neither of us know anything about Bob Saget. Nada. I’m reading about stuff now but none of that was in my life. Seems like he was a really nice guy, though.)

    Dear CHRISTOPHER,

This morning you received our weekly "Recipe of the Week" email, which is sent to you every Friday.

In today's email we highlighted a grilled meatloaf recipe. At the time we shared this recipe with you, we were not aware of the unfortunate passing of American singer and actor Mr. Marvin Lee Aday, also known as Meat Loaf.

We want to express our deepest apologies for this oversight and for any offense this email may have caused.

We send our condolences to Mr. Aday's family and fans.

    Thank you for understanding.

    The Weber Family
    what the actual shit.

Oh wow, I loved him, I read several of his books. A great teacher of mindfulness.

“Tomorrow, I will continue to be. But you will have to be very attentive to see me. I will be a flower, or a leaf. I will be in these forms and I will say hello to you. If you are attentive enough, you will recognize me, and you may greet me. I will be very happy."

RIP Don Wilson, last of the original Ventures. They were from Tacoma, WA & my late uncle went to high school & was friends with them. The band sold 100 million records! You'll never hear surf music again....

Oh man, I friggin LOVED The Ventures.

Our entire percussion section in Junior High would do “Wipeout” contests on snares, where we’d see who could play “Wipeout” the longest (and accurately).

I had a drum kit, and surf music was the easiest music to learn, and the most fun.

RIP, Don. SURF MUSIC WILL NEVER DIE!!
