Bill Russell, along with being an NBA legend (unarguably the most decorated basketball player EVER) , he was a civil rights activist as well. The world lost a good person today.

RIP Vin Scully. Voice of the Brooklyn & LA Dodgers for 67 years. Great storyteller. I'm not a fan of the team but I would tune in games just to listen to him.

Very admirable that she was able to live through cancer for 30 years. Maybe admirable isn’t the correct word, but you know what I mean.

Well as someone who knows how much it sucks to have your liver completely fail you and leave you begging for help, and it just tells you "fuck you" over and over and over and over and over and over again...
It's not going to be a good way to go

The liver can regenerate though. I had some damage from 1 of the chemo drugs. Since I'm pretty heavily monitored it was caught early. Cut the dosage for the chemo & I stopped my occasional glass of wine. It's ok now. Wish I could say that for the rest of me. Take care of yourself.

Is the liver the key to immortality? Kinda like how jellyfish can keep regenerating themselves?

Director Wolfgang Petersen had died at 81 from pancreatic cancer.

This one really hurts. Das Boot is an absolute masterpiece. I think I have seen all his English speaking movies.

RIP sir. Thank you for everything.

The last few days have been devastating; so many talented people gone...

Goddamn it. This one stings in a really personal way, and I'm gonna go watch Das Boot again right now and cry my eyes out. Maybe afterwards I'll watch The Neverending Story, and have a nostalgic trip back to the point in my life before I ever knew what sadness was, and scream Artax, you stupid horse.

Leon Vitali, assistant to Stanley Kubrick, who started his association with him first as an actor, delivering one of the better performances in Barry Lyndon.

There was a very good documentary made about his contributions to Kubrick’s professional and personal lives some years ago, Filmworker.

RIP Wes Freed, artist & musician. Probably best known for his work with Drive-by Truckers. I have at least 3 shirts with his art on them. 1 of my favorites. By all accounts a really good guy. Cancer got him at age 58.

    Holy shit.

I went to fill the car up at 7 am central and they were only saying she had mobility issues on CNN radio, and that there was a need for medical supervision.

There have been FIFTEEN prime ministers since she was sworn in as queen, they said on CNN, and she's reigned for over seventy years,.making her the longest reigning British monarch.

When she was 21, Elizabeth made a vow to devote her life in service to her people. And she meant it. Less than 48 hours before her death, she was still doing her duty as Queen.

You can rest now, Your Majesty. Your work is done. Thank you for your service and your dignity, always.

Talk about good aging genetics. Her mom was 101, she was 96. Almost 200 years between them, wow!
