I was going to post another link: http://www.thewrap.com/michael-cimin...or-dies-at-77/

I actually liked his work and was hoping he would get to do one more film. It sucks as I really think he is underrated and doesn't deserve the bad rap he got over Heaven's Gate. It's a flawed film but certainly spectacular. Here is a piece I wrote about him 2 years ago: https://cinemaaxis.com/2014/07/24/th...ichael-cimino/

    Fuck you 2016.

To make up for all this carnage, life needs to have a child prodigy invent a method of human resurrection and January 2017 will see Elvis back from the dead.

His book Night was, for me as a young person when I first read it, an extremely impacting read, and I know I'm one of many who had that experience with it.

People like him were excellent reminders that no one can completely take the life or love out of others through hate and bigotry and he was an extremely important figure for the Jewish community. I find it extremely moving that he lived to 87 after spending his childhood in a society that was committed to guaranteeing he'd never make it past adolescence, and that he was able to spent all of the extra time defiantly spreading education, understanding and insight throughout the world.

This year needs to just stop it.

I'm going to watch The Wicker Man again now... Still maybe the most disturbing movie I've ever seen. I walked away from it the first time really shaken up, and it's maybe the only movie that even though I thought it was great, I have a hard time watching again. There's something so terrible about the ending. The way he screams, the terror he expresses at the revelation... it's all too real. The mindless fanaticism of the true believer is capable of delivering the most horrifying and meaningless ends. Such a great film. RIP.

The world lost a truly great man on the 8th of July. RIP Abdul Sattar Edhi, very likely to be the most humble person to ever have walked the earth.

Geneviève Castrée (music projects known as Woelv and Ô Paon, and she was also an illustrator and comic artist), wife of Phil Elverum (known for his music as Mount Eerie and also The Microphones), has passed away after a battle with cancer. She was only in her 30's.

    Jerry Doyle from Babylon 5.

I think that show must have some kind of curse. About half the cast members have died.
