RIP Paul Alexander. What a fighter.
I was watching MSNBC tonight and the hosts didn't really cover Lieberman's death. It was hardly mentioned at all after the initial report. I guess he really was a persona non grata in the Democratic party.
His efforts against the ACA / health care is probably why.
Joe Lieberman, Iraq War Cheerleader and Killer of Public Option, Dead at 82
"Joe Lieberman's legacy will live on as your medical debt.""Up until the very end, Joe Lieberman enjoyed the high-quality, government-financed healthcare that he worked diligently to deny the rest of us. That's his legacy," said Melanie D'Arrigo, executive director of the Campaign for New York Health, which advocates for universal, single-payer healthcare.
As Warren Gunnels, majority staff director for Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee Chair Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), explained, "Joe Lieberman led the effort to ensure the Affordable Care Act did not include a public option or a reduction in the Medicare eligibility age to 55."
That will be Lieberman’s legacy, trying to kill public health care reform and rallying support for the Iraq war… that and being a proponent of prudish censorship in music and art in general.
Damn, RIP Louis Gossett Jr. Legendary actor.
Randomly, Facebook gave me one of those “your memory from 7 years ago,” and I was talking about the movie An Officer and a Gentleman.
RIP Joe Flaherty
For April Fools one of the default subreddits was doing "beloved celebrity is still alive at age XX" and it got me a couple of times.
RIP Keith LeBlanc
RIP Adrian Schiller.
OJ Simpson died this morning from prostate cancer.
All the OJ jokes and hysteria surrounding the court case distracted from the horrifying reality of what he did. He didn’t just get away with murder, he laughed about it and joked. The guy was a psychopathic monster who probably, even on his death bed, felt no remorse or the need to confess to what he did. Apparently he was joking about being in hospice, as if that was bullshit, and he even said something on Twitter like “Like the Donald says, can’t trust the media!”
Well, turns out he was full of shit there too. Really though, just an evil person in every way.
I heard on the radio this morning that all his visitors, nurses, and family members during his last days were all to sign a NDA agreement. Hmm....
