Kraftwerk - Neon Lights. That song could really benefit from a more modern production.

I know he did some remixes for PG back during UP, but honestly, I've ALWAYS wanted to hear Trent take on something from Melt or Security.

Think Trent could really take this classic pained love song to a new level.

It would be quite the awesome, delightful and somewhat humorous surprise if he ever covered Final Fantasy VI's Johnny C Bad just right after All Time Low, especially with the sounds and styles akin to the likes of Kinda I Want To, Ringfinger, Get Down Make Love and Supernaut.

I somehow forgot to mention this. Anyway, that would be quite the theme to hear in an intermission too, as it would've really gone full circle by then. It's even more interesting to know that the Reznor sprite is A9.

I think I listed this in my original post, but the clip was taken down. I only bring it up again because Boris (who some may recall opened for Nine Inch Nails during the Lights In The Sky tour) did a really good ambient cover of this, and I'd be curious to see what Trent & Atticus could do with it.

Buckle up cause this is wild.

I found the song that predates NIN and is pretty much the blueprint for what Trent would end up creating for NIN, post 90's.

Robert Tepper - There's no Easy Way Out (Rocky IV 1985)

You might think I'm being ironic, I don't care. This song has the structure, sound, bass, lyrics and the muscle of a jacked up Trent With Teeth'a.

Trent, you know you stole the concept and testosterone of this song, it's time now to cover it and pay the proper respect it deserves.

    There's no easy way out.

"We're not indestructible,Baby better get that straight
    I think it's unbelievable
How you give into the hands of fate
Some things are worth fighting for some
    Feelings never die
I'm not askin' for another chance
I just want to know why
There's no easy way out there's no shortcut home
There's no easy way out givin' in can't be wrong
I don't want to pasify you
I don't want to drag you down
But I'm feelin like a prisoner
Like a stranger in a no named town
I see all the angry faces
Afraid that could be you and me
Talkin about what might have been
I'm thinkin about what I used to be
There's no easy way out there's no shortcut home
Ther's no easy way out givin' in can't be wrong

Baby, baby we can shed this skin
We can know how we feel inside
Instead of goin' down and endless road
Not knowin if we're dead or alive
Some things are worth fightin for
    Some feelings never die
I'm not askin for another chance
I just want to know why
There's no easy way out there's no shortcut home

I would like Trent to go the Dylan route and release an album of Sinatra standards (Dylan is on his third). NIN recording In the Wee Small Hours in its entirety would be great.

I'm not saying Trent should wear a suit and a fadora and make an album of swing songs, or saloon songs the way Frank did it, but if TR made an album of Sinatra standards, in his own style, it could be great.

A one-off recording of some song from the 20th Century American songbook, given the right context and framing device, could be a good idea for TR to tackle. But a whole ALBUM of that shit would wear thin real quick (it certainly did for me with Dylan, let alone three hours of them, and I say that as a big fan).

Fair enough and a moot point as this will never happen. Still, a man can dream.

We already have Orgy's cover to be the best cover, do we need another one in the same genre?

To make my point even clearer. Robert Tepper was not only the main influential architect of NIN's sound and concept, but of NIN's live shows. Here's one of Tepper's live performances 1985 that Trent attended (Oh you know he did) and pretty much copied.

Keep in mind that in 1985 Trent was Chandler Bing and an Exotic Bird.

Not that it would ever happen (like 99.9% of the posts above) but I've always wanted a block of Reptile into Ministry's Scarecrow or vice versa....
and for good measure I'd love a hear Trent, Atticus & Mariqueen do something with Ethan Kath of Crystal Castles... How to Destroy Castles?

Sorry to quote such an old post, but this would be AMAZING. However, I can not agree with the "more modern" production comment. Even today Krafwerk's music sounds current to me. One of the most underrated bands of all time. So ahead of their time.

Also, it would be amazing to hear Trent cover Welcome to the Machine by Pink Floyd.
