This is tragic. He and Pauline Kael were probably the two most important film critics of them all, and played parent to all film criticism that followed. But beyond that, he was always a wonderful, intriguing, adventurous writer, and a man with a big mind and a bigger heart.

I'm absolutely heartbroken. What a man he was. RIP Roger Ebert; you will be terribly missed.

    Well said.

ugh, I don't know how we're going to live without him. The only consolation is that Roger's quality of life was pretty shitty for several years and now he no longer suffers. Chaz said he smiled, then died.

This is sad i really loved reading his reviews, I and many others i think outside the U.S came across him when we started using the internet, he seemed to be the critic on the web who was always referenced, and every film which came out i wanted to know his thoughts too! Like me Apocalypse Now was one of his top 10 films ever.
He seemed like a really nice man, its going top be weird now without his voice after so long
    RIP

RIP Roger Really going to miss your wisdom and perspective. Reading your reviews really ignited my passion for film.

Kind of shitty that The Host may have been the last movie he ever watched...

Damn that sucks. I loved his reviews, even when I didn't agree with them sometimes. His reviews were a gateway to becoming the movie lover I am today.

    RIP Ebert.

For anyone following the Lohan madness. She decided to swtich rehab facility without advising the DA or the Court. This morning in Court, her attorney told the judge Lindsay had checked it Morningside Recovery in Newport Beach instead of the in NY because they would't let her smoke.

While her lawyer was telling that she had checked in and that Morningside and that it was offering the same program as the facility in NY and therefore DA/Court should simply agree, well TMZ found out that Morningside had its licensed revoke recently and therefore could not provide any form of treatments whatsoever.

Also, Linsday has not checked in yet.
Basically, her lawyer lied to the Judge.

She's so out of it, it's hilarious ..

Put the bitch in jail and make her stay there... for five years so we wouldn't have to hear from her for a while.

Jeff Hanneman, guitarist for Slayer, just died. He was 49 years old.

Apparently he died from liver failure.

R.I.P. Jeff. I will be blasting your music as loud as I can in your memory. I hope you give Satan the soundtrack of his life.

Like that will ever happen. Plus, she's not even in Downey's league as far as antics and skills are concerned.

Yeah, never really agreed with the Downey comparison. He turned in Chaplin before somersaulting off the rails, she turned in Mean Girls. She has natural acting talent and some star quality, but I've never looked at her and thought "Oscar".

Sometimes I feel like the only person who has no idea who Lindsey Lohan is. I've heard her name thrown around, usually with regards to her getting fucked up or acting ridiculous, but I'm not sure if I've ever really seen anything she's been in.

    Freaky Friday, Mean Girls.
She had a premising career but unfortunately, substance abuse got the best of her.

So ... yesterday she fired her lawyer. Hired Shawn Holley back. That lawyer worked miracles for her.
She will have to once more because she has 12 hours to check-in a rehab facility or prosecutors will go to Court for an arrest warrant.

    R.I.P. Ray Harryhausen

A true Hollywood legend. I've been enjoying his work in movies since my childhood.

RIP Ray and thanks for the remarkable work you did!

Never been a huge fan of hers, but I gotta say, the impact this could have on awareness, prevention programs, fund raising and research should be amazing. Kudos.

So what now? Everyone who has the gene for colon cancer should have their colon removed?
Breast cancer is curable. I sincerely hope women will not start chopping off their boobs just in case.

Breast cancer is curable if it's caught and treated early.

If you had an 87% chance of developing cancer in a part of your body that you didn't need, and you had children and knew what it was like to lose your own mother to the same genetic mutation, I bet you'd surgically remove them, too.

so, what, is she going to give up her film career, or are the studios going to come up with ridiculous methods to still make her seem like the archetypal desirable woman? false breast inserts? CGI? I mean, yeah, this is all secondary to the breast cancer prevention thing, but still... it's interesting to consider.
