Not sure how he finds time to sleep.

Jacob Bannon has another band, with a 12 song album completely finished and recorded, ready to release. Waiting on him to finalize the art for it, which he's "about 25% into". Band name and album details TBA though the album is expected before the end of the year.

    Lineup:

    Jacob Bannon
    Shane Embury (Napalm Death)
    Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth)
    Jesper Liveröd (Nasum)

Quarantine blows but it's been good for heavy music.

It really is. Calcified Youth is damn catchy too. Love hearing vocals like that from Jake.

really mad at jacob right now. with how quickly deathwish booted Young And In The Way after the allegations of sexual assault came out against them, the fact that converge had jeff whitehead, a known and convicted abuser, design a shirt for them is fucking gross. and it's not even a good design! not that it would matter if it's good, but jesus christ.

    @eversonpoe

Just read about his incident based on your post. At any point do you feel someone has paid their debt to society or does more factor into it (contrition, crime, etc.?)

it really depends. there's also a lot of controversy surrounding the band Inquisition right now. their new album came out yesterday and the label is rightfully getting dragged for partnering with them because one of the members is a pedophile who was convicted on child pornography charges (had GIGABYTES of it). child pornography is not even remotely a victimless crime, because the fact that the photographs/videos exist in the first place is an act of sexual assault/abuse. that guy literally did NOTHING to atone for his actions, just laid low and stayed quiet for a bit and now there's a new album out.

i don't know if jeff whitehead did anything to atone for his actions. i don't know if he's a better person now than he was. i do think people can change but when you do something that heinous and awful, you have a LOT of atonement to do, and most people just want a quick bit of forgiveness so they can try to go back to "normal", not taking into account the effect their actions had on the people whose lives they potentially ruined. and whether or not he did do the work and is a better person now, bannon & co still could have chosen not to work with him. jacob is one of the most talented visual artists alive today (in my opinion) and they commissioned this guy to make an extremely mediocre piece of art that they approved for a t-shirt? absolutely didn't need to happen.

contrition is a huge factor and it's impossible to know if someone actually regrets and wants to atone for their actions when it comes to something like this, or if they simply regret getting caught and having it be out in public.

as a survivor of both assault and abuse, i have extremely strong feelings on this. and while i don't expect everyone to completely agree with me, i expect them to at least try to see it from my perspective, and from the perspectives of the people who were so negatively affected by the actions of these people.

Saddest Day '97. 6:15 for the chills. But watch the whole thing. There used to be (still is?) so much danger at a Converge show. Look how the band fights back throughout. Just chaos.

Jake recently did some shirt designs for Saint Vitus to help them make some $ during their Covid shutdown. Looks like the venue is doing shows again starting next month.

Concubine into Fault & Fracture is still prolly the greatest 1-2 punch in heavy music.

Converge's Blood Moon project with Chelsea Wolfe, Ben Chisholm, and Steven Broadsky is finally getting an official "Converge - Bloodmoon: I" release.

Preorders up. Vinyl ships June 2022 (yikes!)

Grabbed the Chelsea Wolfe Exclusive 2LP version. Now let’s hop for a Jane Doe repress

Yeah i got the Converge one even though with shipping it's a backbreaker. Jake has already said there are no plans for a Jane Doe reissue at all.

That's not exactly what they said. They said there's no plans at the moment, but they hope to have it available again one day. I bet if pressing plants weren't so horribly backed up right now they would have had one ready this year for the 20th anniversary.

Oh to be sure, but as it stands right now this November release is on vinyl seven months later. With something they're not even actively planning on...I look forward to the 25th anniversary. Maybe.

Seeing as how hot this was being sold with preorders I just went with whatever was easiest. I originally wanted the Chelsea Wolfe red/purple merge variant but it was sold out so I was gonna do the Newbury Comics one but that was like 8.00 more than anywhere else it was selling so I settled on the Converge/Deathwish Blue/Red Merge variant on the Deathwish store. Damn.

Jane Doe has been found. Kind of sounds like she's not too thrilled about it based on her post.

Album dropped and boy is is great. The frantic, devastating music of Converge meets the doom twinged edge of Chelsea Wolfe perfectly. Their sounds marry into an awesome doom filled and haunting listen. An album of the year contender for me for sure.

Viscera of Men is crushing. Might be my favorite.

I've been hyped for this ever since they released the song Blood Moon.
I have to admit I'm not too big on Converge but I love Chelsea and this collab just kills.

This album has been on regular rotation since it’s release. I’m not that familiar with Converge, but love Chelsea Wolfe and selfishly wish I heard her voice more on the album. “Flower Moon” gives off serious early Alice In Chains vibes with the vocal delivery and sludgy guitar. Patiently waiting for the vinyl to drop in June.

I thought it was only one song with CW, now I find out that it's the whole album! I'm in the same boat as you, not too familiar with Converge (I did see them opening for Mastodon in 2009) but I adore Chelsea Wolfe. I'll have to check this one out. My gf gifted me tickets to see Meshuggah next year, and Converge will be opening, so I'll get acquainted with Converge. With which album should I start?
