    Killer Be Killed

A super group of Soulfly, The Dillinger Escape Plan, the Mars Volta and Mastodon. What?

Holy supergroup! Max Cavalera, The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Greg Puciato, Mastodon‘s Troy Sanders and ex-The Mars Volta’s David Elitch have decided to make a band together!
Named Killer Be Killed, the immense-looking lineup has signed with Nuclear Blast and will release their debut album in 2014.

“It’s a bit of Sabbath-y doom, a bit of thrash, a bit of hardcore and punk,” Greg explains, with Max adding; “This is a very special project. It’s a one of a kind thing, with a lot of potential. The album is a mix of heavy, fast and melodic songs. I love the idea of Greg, Troy and I singing together, with David Elitch’s amazing drumming. Being a part of this is something quite different for me.”

As for Troy, he described the band as “a perfect blend of a legend, a freak, a beast and a wookie.”

This is going to be fucking brilliant, isn’t it?

Wonder how it'll be. I love work by Mastodon and DEP. Cavalera has respect even though I don't listen to much Soulfly or Sepultura and the Mars Volta is good.

The first single "Wings of Feather and Wax" is now available on iTunes along with the album pre-order!

Also, new radio interview with Greg discussing the making of the album and some Dillinger news.

Sounds fine, just a little lower in quality than a 320 rip.

JUst had my first listen and I am slightly disappointed. As much as I wanted to like it, I only find myself really enjoying Greg's parts. I can't stand Max's vocals.

Greg's highlights are: Wings, Melting of My Marrow, Save the Robots, Dust Into Darkness and Twelve Labors.

Forbidden Fire is a pretty cool track (would've been better if soley sung by Greg) and I.E.D. is absolute crap. Worst lyrics on the entire album.

    "IMPROVIDED!!! EXPLOSIVE!!! DEVICE!!!! ARGHHHH!!!"

All in all, it ends up being a Mastadon album with some Max gargles… 5.5/10

    Troy's eyes! Haha

overall decent video and decent album too. Nothing groundbreaking, just some good music to pass the time

    Wow that's mediocre.
Metal is really in an anti-song phase at the moment. It's a shame.
Generic riffs, generic emo singing. Wants to be FNM but FNM had memorable tunes. Massive great singalong choruses. This is like deliberately average.
Greg Puciato is looking hot these days.
Troy is such a poser, I despise Mastodon so much.
I am really looking forward to metal pulling its head out of its ass soon.

I will say this, Greg's vocals never get old. After listening to this album a dozen times it has grown on me as some good gym music.

I don't think it was meant to be ground breaking or anything amazing for a band. It's a super group of a bunch of like-minded musicians.

Agreed. He's probably one of the only reasons I bothered with this.

I was really excited when early on Greg said this was going to be like Nailbomb but there is literally nothing that sticks to that comment. NB is basically the only Cavelera project I like and was looking forward to some industrial-metal with Greg on vocals. This just turned okay at best and I love Mastodon and Mars Volta too. I still have hope for Greg's Black Queen project.

OK I will shut up and go give the whole album a shot before slagging it further.

i don't like greg's facial hair for some reason...it's just bugging me...
also, i had no idea he played guitar. i thought he was strictly a vocalist (or is that just in dillinger?)
why do you hate mastodon? i quite like them.

also, max looks like jack black in disguise hahaha

So after getting it all listened to, Melting of my Marrow is the best song by this group. The album is good but the songs all kinda bleed together. Good stuff though, hope we have more than this one off collaboration.

Has anyone tracked down the vinyl only bonus track "Ghosts of Chernobyl"? I don't have a record player so I didn't order the vinyl. If anyone got it and can rip it, I'd really appreciate a copy.

Been getting into a lot more metal stuff this year, and this record is definitely one of my faves so far. The bass guitar on "Forbidden Fire" is worth the price of the album alone.

I don't think the opportunity arose for him to play in DEP, nor was there a need. I recall hearing or reading in an interview with Greg that he had played guitar in a punk/hardcore band before when he was younger. I also think that in the same interview he had said something along the lines of not being able to be totally focused on vocals AND guitar or something...

New Music video for "Snakes of Jehovah"

Disappointed. Same director, location, and basically same music video as the last. Greg wore his jedi/Josh Eustis cardigan and theres a dumb interlaced filter posted on top…oh and a chick with a snake.

Not really worth watch again. Wish they had picked another song to do a video for.

I'm surprise by the song choice for another music video. More entertaining than Wings of Feathers and Wax though.

I am surprised too by the choice of single.

Personally thought "Melting of My Marrow" would have been the next one

These guys sound absolutely awesome live. I think I might be in one of the crowds there in that Curb Crusher video.

Interesting. This plus Greg’s solo record in October. Busy fellow.
