    Shakira

After seeing Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and then Miley Cyrus being discussed here, I actually thought of finally giving a Shakira thread a try. It seems to be highly recommended to check out the albums she came out with before Laundry Service first, and I actually ended up liking them. They were Pies Descalzos and Dónde Están los Ladrones?, and the only post-Laundry Service album I got from her so far was Sale el Sol.

I also never got Magia and Peligro though, and it wasn't until I checked out Wikipedia that I realized that she was even putting out albums since 1991. So, do any of you like older Shakira albums, newer Shakira albums, or both of them? (Or none of them? As I could really see that coming anyway.)

I knew her music waaaay before she was successful in the US (Not trying to sound like a hipster, she was famous in Mexico several years before "Whenever, Wherever") and it was because my sister was a fan...Her music wasn't "my cup of tea" or anything, but i admit she has a great voice and "¿Donde están los Ladrones?" is a fine pop album (even the lyrics are better than most pop stuff around)

Sadly, just like Lady Gaga, Miley and Madonna, she gained worldwide fame and at the same time her music became extremely commercial and annoying (I can't stand "Laundry Service" and that stupid "Whenever Whatever" song...), ¿Donde están los ladrones" is a much more honest album by "Laundry Service" or that stupid "Oral Fixation" album (at least the spanish versions of both sound terrible)

I think she should have stayed as a "regular" "honest" pop artist like she was on her early works... In my opinion she sold out really big and both her music and her looks became so annoying (also i hated her doing that Aerosmith cover...), right now i don't have any sympathy for her...

    PS:

    'Dat ass...!
