I actually heard that too. And on my first few listens of Closer, I thought that "Through every forest, above the trees, within my stomach, scraped off my knees. I drink the honey inside your hive. You are the reason I stay alive." part was just some kind of moaning and/or mumbling to add to that part of the song." I'm definitely glad I was wrong about that part, looking back at it now.

Ha! You just reminded me that I used to mishear the "inside your hive" line in Closer (Precursor). I thought he was saying "Los Angeles". Seriously. For a time I didn't even realize it was those breakdown lyrics from the "original" Closer.

    From Down In It:

I used to be so big and strong.
I used to know my right from wrong.
I used to never be afraid.
I used to be so funny.

I haven't actually read through the lyrics yet, but I thought he was saying "Where's your dad at?" as well!

I used to think that about the "will you die for this" part in "Heresy". I didn't find out it was words instead of noises (and that the lyric line wasn't just booklet-only) until Leviathant pointed it out like, a long ass time ago. That blew my mind wide open, actually.

When we were first transcribing the lyrics from the new With_Teeth songs way back when, he played Getting Smaller and I thought he said "I still got one good arm that I can beat myself off with."

XD I was corrected, of course, but it was still funny/embarrassing.

This isn't a mistaken lyric, but still a mistake all the same.

    Was just reading this page:

    http://www.ninwiki.com/And_All_That_Could_Have_Been_(halo)

    Artwork

The photo used for the top half of the DVD cover is taken from inside a bomb shelter that David Carson found at a home he purchased. In a 2003 TED talk[3], Carson explained further:
"There was some bomb shelter built, apparently in the '60s Cuban missile crisis. And I asked the real estate guy what it was as we were walking by, and he goes, 'It's something to do with the sewage system.' I was, O.K.; that's fine. I finally went down there, and it was this old rusted circular thing, and two beds, and very kind of creepy and weird. And also, surprisingly, it was done in kind of a cheap metal, and it had completely rusted through, and water everywhere, and spiders. And I thought, you know, what were they thinking? You'd think maybe cement, possibly, or something. But anyway, I used this for a cover for the Nine Inch Nails DVD, and I've also now fixed the bomb shelter with duct tape, and it's ready."
It is probably safe to assume that the photo used for the cover of the CD and the inner cover of the DVD is also from the bomb shelter, as it appears to be a blurred image of rusted metal.

The bold part above is what I'm referring to. For the longest time (well, until now) I've always looked at the standard CD cover of AATCHB and thought it was an afternoon sky with clouds and the NIN logo floating in it; like a desolate sunset/afternoon-scape. Anyone else mistake that cover too?

Also, did we ever find out WTF is actually on the cover of "Still"?

We didn't find out what's on the cover of Still, but it's funny because I was staring at that cover a few days ago, pondering that. I've always thought that maybe it's a photo of some stuff that's underwater, but I really have no clue.

That's really interesting. I had always figured it was a picture taken during the show of some type of mist or fog and green lights.

But that reminds me: the cover of TFA. From the first time, I have always seen it as a profile view of an angry cartoon face and to this day can't see it as anything otherwise. The long petals on top look like hair, the bottom one curving up the chin, the petal where the glint is the eye, and the one underneath it the partially-open mouth. Surely I can't be the only one, no?

My personal favorite is during Sin...

Trent says "You give me the anger, you give me the nerve," but I sometimes hear it as "You give me the anger, you give me the runs."

I guess it works within the context of the song? I don't know, I'm sorry.

And then the song was about love and divorce

I just realized, if the misheard lyrics were true in the above two posts, it'd be sad, but also somewhat hilarious.

1989: "Got money, I'll do anything for you!"

2013: "I'm runnin' out of money now, I'm runnin' out..."

Down In it - Kinda like a pilot I was way up in the sky.

I still sometimes think that by mistake until I actually check out the lyrics. I've heard it that way since 2002. I don't think it would sound that bad, since pilot can sort of rhyme with dot. And it also got me to imagine a magical dot bring a pilot down.

while i'm still here - instead of "wish it didn't have to end this way"... it sounds like he says, "where's ya dad at, didn't have to end this way"

While I'm Still Here - When we kill.

I still sometimes hear that by mistake. Perhaps it's also because I also have Hurt in mind when I listen to While I'm Still Here, and thought of it as Trent trying to kill it all away again.

I originally heard "This is a mental house" which made no goddamned sense in context of the rest of the lyrics.

    I want some coffee
    want some coffee
    want some coffee

Every little sip just makes me soar

    Assemble me some coffee
    me some coffee
    me some coffee

    I don't drink caffeine-free anymore

    I'd like some cream
    and some sugar
    and some sugar

Always trying to keep it from staying black

    Bring me some more cream
    and some sugar
    and some sugar

I drink a lot of coffee so I don't crack

I'm glad that you posted that, because I think of coffee when I listen to Nine Inch Nails, as it really hits the spot for me, especially after Trent mentioned coffee in regards to how well Ghosts I-IV did. It also takes me back to this.
