What are your top 25 albums of all time!?

Hey, I was in the middle of getting ready to go to sleep and then a thought ran across my mind... "What would be your top 25 albums of all time?" And I was was like "hmm, that could take some time, but that could be quite the rewarding task to take on"

Then I thought, wait, this would be the perfect topic for a thread on ETS! So I decided to come here and open the floor for discussion.
Like I said, a task like this will not be an easy one, but a fun evening activity if you have a couple hours to kill.

What would be your Top 25 albums of ALL TIME!?

I'd like to see some of the lists here, who knows, maybe we can all open each other to some new and kickass albums that we wouldn't have otherwise known about. Look forward to seeing those lists!

EDIT: Here is my list now after I thought it over. It was hard to do a 1 CD per band limit with a couple bands, so I limited it to 2 of the same band. Also, I will list these in alphabetical order, not order of best to worst, that's too hard to do.

    1. A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms
    2. Cure, The - Disintegration
    3. Daft Punk - Homework
    4. David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
    5. Drowning Susan - The End of Everything
    6. Foo Fighters - The Colour and the Shape

Hmm... This will be a tough list for me because I'm very particular about the bands I listen to and honestly I don't think I've had enough time yet to learn to appreciate enough bands to put together a solid list. Here is my list though in no particular order.

    Baths - Obsidian
    Nine Inch Nails - Broken

    Sonoio - Red
    Sonoio - Blue
    Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver

I'll only list those that really matter to me in some sort of fashion (memories, hooked on a new genre, linked to life choices, memorable concerts) and not the the ones I really think are the musical second coming of Chist. Some might be though, you never know. Some I still listen to on a regular basis, some were forgotten but are coming back. That's what these lists are for right? Not forgetting.

I love the old stuff, but I haven't grown up with Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Prince, Joe Cocker and all the other music that my father made me appreciate, so here's my stuff and the stuff that my kids probably will be hearing from me in the future. There's more than 25, but 25 is already a long list for truly great and everlasting albums. I elaborated my top 3 and then the list goes on in no particular order.

Queens of the Stone Age - songs for the deaf
That one finally kicked the door in musically for me and also somewhat defined my musical direction when it hit. I felt like this record was made for me and who I was and still am. It's still one of my dearest wishes to drive to Plam Desert. This album also introduced me to the whole desert rock scene which I am still an avid fan of, eventhough I listened to QOTSA since I saw the music video to monsters in parasol. Great music was discovered thanks to this awesome record. It also made me pick up the guitar, which did not last long, but although my fandom for Queens has worn off, Josh Homme is still a musical idol and will always be.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - BRMC
Another record that kicked off a long lasting friendship with rock n roll music. I love me a nice leather jacket and some boots and at the time I discovered this band I physically could have been their fourth band member. BRMC are one of the few bands that I actually made the effort to see multiple times on a single tour and so far their concerts haven been enlightenment. Good music, sweet love and pure joy is what I get out of these guys. Memories that will last forver and I hope some can be added in the future. Love to have these guys around.

Nine Inch Nails - with teeth
I first got into NIN with the fragile but didn't dive into it. with_teeth was the record that finally made me appreciate the electronic side of music. Combined with the garage rock attitude on some songs the droning guitars that are now a trademark of Trent it hit me right in the face and set off this beautiful journey that I now have with Trent and Co til this day. Like with QOTSA I discovered alot of other artists through NIN, met great people in RL and online and it was awesome to discover Trent's body of work. NIN and especially Rob Sheridan also schooled my eyes for design and technical possibilities with music and I still think that the with_teeth artwork is the best NIN has ever had. I just loved the whole concept of it and I have alot of stuff in my house designed in the vain of this record. with_teeth and NIN in general probbably made the biggest impression on me. Blue is also my favorite colour. A point not to be missed. Hehe.

Oasis - standing on the shoulder of giants
    Mark Lanegan - bubblegum
    Alec Empire - futurist
    Kyuss - sky valley
    Fantomas - the director's cut
    Rammstein - Mutter
    Stone Temple Pilots - purple
    Massive Attack - mezzanine
    Ween - chocolate and cheese
    UNKLE - war stories
    Melvins - houdini
Faith No More - angel dust
    Tool - lateralus
    Marilyn Manson - mechanical animals
the Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster - hörse of the dög
    Curve - come clean
    Killing Joke - night time
Refused - the shape of punk to come
Primus - sailing the seas of cheese
the Black Angels - the passover
    Tomahawk - Tomahawk
    Electric Six - fire

in no order: (i let word auto number them)
    Top 25 albums:

    1. Floodland – the sisters of mercy
    2. Violator – dépêche mode
    3. Parsley, sage rosemary and thyme – simon & Garfunkel
    4. Front by front – front 242
    5. In case you didn’t feel like showing up – ministry *normally i hate top lists with live sets & compilations as it's akin to cheating, but i had to make the exception here. this is ministry at the height of their game.
    6. I do not want what I haven’t got – sinead o’connor
    7. Xtort – kmfdm (nhil or symbols could have fit here as well, but i prefer xtort)
    8. Praise the fallen – vnv nation
    9. The downward spiral – nin (the last nin record worthy of the list)
    10. The final cut – pink Floyd
    11. Blowback – tricky
    12. Selling live water – sole
    13. The man who sold the world – david bowie
    14. Fook – pigface
    15. Deep – peter Murphy
    16. Nevermind – nirvana
    17. That total age – nitzer ebb
    18. Gelb – neuroticfish
    19. Mechanical animals – Marilyn manson (just as easily could have been antichrist superstar)
    20. Little earthquakes – tori amos
    21. Encore – Eminem (making 1 choice here was hard)
    22. Freedom of choice – devo
    23. Into the labyrinth – dead can dance
    24. I’m new here – gil scott-heron
    25. American IV: The Man Comes Around – Johnny cash (this could have been anything from american III -> )

    --
in hindsight, i'm surprised the cure didn't make my list, objectively they probably had some records that are "better" than some on the list, but i don't see anything i want to remove to make room for them, gary numan & tool could be a bit of oversight too.

likewise, DM, 242, nin, simon & garfunkel (et al) could have grabbed more slots but i wanted to limit it to 1 album / artist.

This could have been totally different if I made it tomorrow, just cause it's all pretty arbitrary. But that's the inherent nature of these list things I guess. And I don't have any Nine Inch Nails. At this point in my life there's just so much other music that I care about and connect with way more. I still play them once in a great while, and I feel a certain loyalty since they were so influential on me when I was younger, but I'm just not much into them anymore. Anyway...

    Smashing Pumpkins - Pisces Iscariot
    Panda Bear - Person Pitch
    DJ Shadow - Endtroducing...
Sam Cooke - Live at the Harlem Square Club
    Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
    Burial - Untrue
Miles Davis - On The Corner
The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street
    Prince - 1999
Talking Heads - Remain In Light

Isaac Hayes - Hot Buttered Soul
    GZA - Liquid Swords
Stars of the Lid - The Tired Sounds of...
    Elite Gymnastics - Ruin
    D'Angelo - Voodoo
    Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
    Studio - West Coast
Grouper - Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill
    Deerhunter - Microcastle/Weird Era Cont.
    Tricky - Maxinquaye

A Guy Called Gerald - Black Secret Technology
    Massive Attack - Mezzanine
    M.I.A. - Piracy Funds Terrorism
    Kanye West - Graduation
    Beck - Odelay
Sly & the Family Stone - There's A Riot Goin' On

What are your top 25 albums of all time!?

In no particular order, as of this very moment (it's REALLY hard to narrow it to 25).

I won't do one album per artist because then I'd be lying about my top 25 albums of all time.

    Joni Mitchell - Hejira
Liz Phair - Exile in Guyville

The Beatles - Let it Be
    The Police - Outlandos D'Amour
The Police - Regatta de Blanc
    The Police - Zenyatta Mondatta
The Police - Ghost in the Machine
Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy
    Led Zeppelin - IV
    Pearl Jam - Ten
    Nine Inch Nails - Broken
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
    The Who - Quadrophenia
    Pink Floyd - Animals
    The Arcade Fire - Funeral
    Radiohead - In Rainbows

Some really excellent lists here, guys! I see a trend of certain albums popping up in alot of people's lists like The Cure's Disintegration (had it in my list too), and many other records I have not heard. Once I get some time, i'll probably check out some of the albums on these lists.

^ I was so close to putting Underworld's 1992-2002 in my list. A flawless collection of songs. The Church's Hindsight would've also made the cut if not for my attempt to make a compilation-free list.

What is this release? I'm assuming it's a label comp of some sort? I can't seem to find it.
