I've finished Heart of Darkness and have moved onto The Hounds of Baskerville by Arthur Conan Doyle.

A Dirty Job - Christopher Moore
Just blew through this one in three sittings. Came as a recommendation from someone I had hoped to get a date with...never happened. This was a good consolation prize, though. Highly recommended for anyone who's read Douglas Adams' stuff and liked his sense of humor.
Finished Utopia by Thomas Moore

A short but interesting read if you're interested in philosophy and social constructs.
I've moved onto this:
I'm about a third of the way through and I'm really enjoying it. It's my second book from Murakami and I love his writing style.
The Name of the Wind - Patrick Rothfuss
I'm making slow progress through this one, but it's certainly drawing me in. The writing is eloquent and the setting/world is superbly realised. I understand this made a big impact on modern fantasy, and I can sure see why.
This came in the post today:

Canada's Forgotten Slaves: 200 Years of Bondage by Marcel Trudel
Really great account of the history of John Romero,John Carmack, the founding of id Software, and the creation of their seminal games, such as Doom and Quake. The book came out a bit over 10 years ago, but is still a great read today. It especially brings back a lot of memories of trying to get DOS games to run on our Compaq 386 by creating special versions of the autoexec.bat and config.sys files.
I really need to read that sometime. I spent a lot of time and energy modding doom from '96 to about '08 but id never read it.
We Need New Names - NoViolet Bulawayo
According to Queeney - Beryl Bainbridge
Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn
The World in Six Songs - Daniel J. Levitin
More feminist science fiction.
Just finished my second read through of ksr's "red mars", about 15 years after my first read through.
I just finished the Lincoln Lawyer, and it was pretty damn good.
A Song of Ice and Fire: Game of Thrones. First time reading this, i'm reading it on the kindle too. Once i read this one i'll get the physical editions. Pretty damn awesome so far.
A discussion of software as a significant cultural entity with specific focus on media production and consumption. Very academic, but interesting so far.
Finished this a week or so ago and now I'm struggling to find something else to capture my attention.
That is one of the funniest books I have ever read, laugh out loud funny.
The plot is the least interesting part, but the characters and dialogue are just hilarious. Damn damn shame the author killed himself, partly in response to never finding a publisher. Another notch against the literary establishment that likes to discover great authors posthumously.
Finished my first re read of Dune (first read about 15 years ago). Better than I remembered, with some great political subtleties, but it drags towards the end. I'm glad he saved the really insane stuff for the sequels.
Bahahahahaha...I JUST came here to post this! Someone suggested it last week, so I read it over the last few days and finished it yesterday afternoon.
Without spoiling anything: that woman pretty much made me feel like I need to just turn in my man card and go buy a purse. Jesus. There were parts of that book that actually had my anxiety getting to a point that I nearly had a panic attack. Kudos to her on an extraordinary journey.
